Poetry is truly the music of the written word. Grateful that my father (back in the 50s) introduced me to poetry by constantly reading and reciting poetry from his youth. He had a difficult life. But when he spoke of books and poetry, you never would have known. Thank you, Alvin E. Judd, MD, 1917-2009, for giving me the best you had. For filling my life with literary joy. It has been my lifeline. I hear that Joy and Lifeline in your poetry and voice. Thank you, Joseph (and Megyn and Sasha), for introducing me to your word music. Grateful.
The poem. It provoked a yearning for my old home. My old neighborhood. Of my dad who
brought home a stray kitten
smuggled in his work jacket. It offered a hint of a promise that this simple common sense life might one day be possible for my grandchildren..and their grandchildren. Beautiful.
What an amazing man! I especially liked to hear that he was able to turn his life around through Jesus Christ. As a Christian, I feel led to bring more people to Christ Who is the only way. I am a licensed psychologist and feel that the majority of people in my field are far left. I certainly don't feel like I belong, but that's ok. Good for you, Joseph!
Thank you, Sasha, for introducing me to Joseph and his work. I too am a poet, or was. Wanted to write a novel and out came poetry (go figure!). Worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), though I wanted to write about deep things, it was all light and love and beauty and nature. I wrote what came. Until I didn’t.
A lot of my growth was at an online poetry site, an unusual one that focused on metrical poetry (because once that bug bites you’re hooked), but over the years it started to change and now is almost unrecognizable. Conservatives were forced out a long time ago. I left before then, the writing having dried up as I pursued other things and got busier with life. Still, it was a wild ride and I learned so much and enjoyed (almost) every minute. Writing poetry helped me tune in to Holy Spirit, the best Muse ever.
Kudos to Joseph for making a new, truer-to-self life, and praise to Jesus for His redemption and calling people out of darkness. We all have some darkness we need to get rid of, and sometimes persecution can help bring it up to be dealt with. Don’t give up on those who are doing the persecuting. They may be the next Sasha Stone! So appreciate all I am learning from her.
Oh my gosh. You saying don’t give up on those persecuting you because they might be the next Sasha Stone really hit me. I am in a very liberal state and 98% of my friends are liberal. It’s really hard. I try to be kind and non reactive to them when they say their spiel but they just keep coming at me with new ones all of the time. The day before three very liberal friends who were visiting at my house were talking about a cruise that one of them just went on. One of the other piped up that now cruises aren’t going to be safe because of Trumps spending cuts. Huh? Make it make sense. So cruise lines are going to not keep their ships safe because of Trump spending cuts? Well they won’t be in business very long. Do these people think things through? I just would love for one of my friends to have some discernment like that. Yesterday a lady who used to babysit for my kids asked to come over so her kids could fish in my pond. She came in the house and out of nowhere starting saying RFK is such a crazy person. I should have been clued in then. She’s a granola type person so I explained how wonderful it will be when they clean up the food supply and find out what’s really in the vaccines and if they are hurting more than harming. She grumbled that if only he was a doctor she thought it would be better. But I said he has doctors who are on his staff. Then she said you can’t trust the media anyway. Maybe I’m clueless but I still didn’t catch on how liberal she is. So then I said yes it just confounds me how people lie and I brought up Joe Biden’s speech the other day how he said repeatedly that Trump is going to cut SS even though Trump has repeatedly said he was never going to do it and never did it in his first term. Biden was lying. And no media called him out on it. Trump has said he is not going to cut SS and said it repeatedly over the years! Anyway she went outside, evidently was upset and immediately complained to my daughter (who is very neutral) about how I’m a Trumper. Like that’s a bad thing. Ugh. So little interactions like that just get me down sometimes. Plus the fact that every news outlet has a hit piece on Trump. I don’t think I’ve seen one positive article about him in mainstream media. I truly don’t know how Trump stays strong with all of the false allegations about everything he does. It’s disheartening for me. So reading your statement that maybe someone will realize that we can have differences of opinions and not look down on someone who sees Trump as a blessing is extremely helpful. I’ll keep the faith.
Yes, keep the faith! Sounds as if you’ve been through the wringer with friends. Makes my head spin sometimes! Hang in there and bless those who persecute you (and Trump!).
- your authenticity is seen in your warm and spontaneous laughter
- you shared specifics around your cancellations (maybe there should be a club for The Recently Mostly Dead and Cancelled)
- loved that you touched on Catholicism because I am one and am naturally biased toward it. Have a statue of BVM in my yard, went to Annunciation BVM, have an Immaculate Mary medal around my neck and say the rosary once a month at least.
- the poems were wonderful and while I loved them, I don’t know poetry so will refrain from technical comment
- have to Amazon now to get your book
- hire Sasha as your agent, darling
Both - Thanks very much for your courage in writing about topics that you knew would cost you much. Really honorable.
You both have faced down the mob, and you survived and even thrived. And now your readers and listeners are the benefactors. Resilience is the stuff of life!
Felt so moved by poet Joseph Massey - his poetry spoke to me. His photography is another bonus. How could I have not known about this talent? Thank you so much for the introduction.
My eyes welled up from your description of the change in friendships. As a first time republican voter, I experienced the herd mentality of the left. Wonderful conversation, beautiful and inspiring poetry. Thank you.
So much wonderful spiritual irony in this conversation. Good Friday, when Jesus intentionally cancelled his earthly life to because he loved mankind and saw them as we were/are. His reward on the other side was to become Christ. This is clearly part of your search for the light Sasha and God chose Joseph to shed some of His light on your path. Thanks for the blessings. Your best is ahead.
Joseph, thanks for sharing your gift and your journey.
So glad you two are collaborating.
What a beautiful video.
I heard Joseph's interview with Megyn Kelly and immediately bought his book on Amazon.
It's listed as a best seller now.
Keep the faith Joseph!
You too Sasha.
You inspire so many!

Amazing photos. He has an amazing eye for capturing so much in a photo without a need of words to express the beauty or emotion felt.

Beautiful poem, beautiful video. Thank you for blessing the world with this. May your lives be resurrected with Jesus on Easter.
Beautiful Video, beautiful poem. God bless you both.
❤️❤️the America is the Poem video. So simple but so true! We need more calm.
Sasha and Joe,
Excellent work because;

I absolutely loved this interview, Sasha! What a beautifully put together podcast.
Fantastic poet, great man! And you, a true professional! Loved how you conducted the interview! 👏👏👏👏
