"She is in power because she and Biden both got a pass from the press but will that pass continue for the next four years?" Um, did you pay attention to the media during the Obama years? They were his personal Praetorian guard, viciously attacking anyone who dared criticize him. His policies were almost never critiqued - only blindly praised. There is no real "press" to speak of anymore - we live in a post-journalism media landscape, with a handful of outfits still trying: Taibbi, Greenwald, the NY Post (in glorious tabloid fashion), the upstart Epoch Times, sometimes the Wall Street Journal. The rest are nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party - or, increasingly, the propaganda arm of the socialist wing of the Democratic Party. Reading the NYT or WaPo is like reading circa 1978 Pravda (or, for that matter, contemporary mainland China media).

And what this post-journalism media is missing is the biggest story in the room: The most profound political realignment since FDR reshaped the landscape in the '30s. The Democratic Party is now the de facto party of Wall Street and the urban professional - increasingly beholden to the white elites who make up those demographics. At the same time, the Republicans just sent a slew of women, Asian, Latino and African American winners to Congress and state offices across the country, and we saw huge breaks toward the Republicans in Latino (including Mexican American) and black voting demographics.

Expect that to continue in two years' time - particularly if Biden pursues extreme Covid-19 restrictions demanded by urban professionals, but that decimate small businesses (especially those that are most vulnerable - i.e., those owned by minorities and women) - and impact minority workers. The Democrats' growing hatred toward religion does not play well in communities where faith remains important - and Biden's cynical attempts to play at being Catholic only make things worse, although the Democrats are too insulated from believers to have any way of knowing that.
