It’s hard to believe an entire year has just flown by. It really is true that as we get older, time goes faster. Last year around this time, I was driving home from New York after a brutal snowstorm called the “Bomb Cyclone.” I still have dreams about it.
.
By January, still on the road, I felt like a champion. A California girl who made it through black ice and hard rain and survived it all.
I didn’t realize that things would keep escalating on the Left, to the point where the Democrats were throwing Trump off the ballot in Maine and Colorado. That is where mass hysteria has taken us, with no end in sight.
One bright spot, at least for me, has been this site. Besides spending time with my daughter, I’ve enjoyed writing for this Substack for all of you the most. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I did not have this escape route to express all of the things that haunt me on a daily basis.
So thank you.
Thank you for the conversations and the letters - which I do read, even if I can’t respond to all of them. And thank you for being subscribers, whether paid or not - for the encouragement, the praise, and even the criticisms (when they are constructive). You guys are the best.
Earlier today, I received an email about the passing of a guy I used to know online many years ago when I was a Hillary supporter. He was one of the smarter activists online, and I was sad to see he’d died. I should have contacted this person before he died, even if we were on opposite sides of this cold Civil War.
In the end, politics will fade away. Our humanity will be all that’s left. If I take anything into the New Year, it will be to remember that.
Happy New Year, my friends. I wish you all the best.
And just for fun, here are ten predictions for the New Year. Take them with a huge grain of salt….
The Democrats continue their lurch toward corruption and totalitarianism by attempting to remove Donald Trump from the ballots in other states.
Trump is convicted of something they’ve charged him with, but wins the election in a landslide, both the popular vote and the Electoral College. He becomes the first “convicted felon” to win the presidency.
So disgusted are the American people that the GOP takes the House and the Senate, too.
Joe Biden attempts to take the United States into a hot war to save his presidency.
A major celebrity figure will enter the presidential race to “save the country” from either of the two contenders. It will be someone on the level of The Rock.
Taylor Swift will become pregnant with Travis Kelce’s baby even before they are engaged or married.
Before the election, X will be shut down for “misinformation” by the government.
A “politically incorrect” type of news show launches in primetime, pulling major figures from each side for a weekly (heated) discussion on the issues, with Tucker Carlson, Chris Cuomo, Megyn Kelly, Bill Maher, Joe Rogan, Jon Stewart, etc.
A new streaming platform launches that offers “non-woke” content, like the Daily Wire but not specific to a political party.
After Trump wins a second term, California, Washington, New York, and Colorado threaten to secede from the union but the plan is aborted, unanimously rejected by voters.
What are some of your predictions? I’d love to hear them.
And with that, I’ll see you in 2024.
I predict your Substack will continue to be a beacon of light and hope for many, many people. Happy New Year Sasha and thanks for your great writing!
I predict that if Trump wins the election, the left will riot. The unrest will be used by the administration to declare a state of emergency. They will lock down DC, suspend congress so that the electoral vote can not be certified. What happens then is anybody's guess...
