The snooty, snarky comments about Trump haven’t worked in seven years. They didn't work for Hillary, Rachel Maddow, Liz Cheney, and Chris Christie, and they certainly won’t work for Nikki Haley. She is giving the Trump haters necessary ammo, and she’s confusing that for actual support.
I guess there is some career advantage in all of this, especially if she’s being encouraged by the Lincoln Project types who want to see someone who can complete a sentence go at Trump. The end game isn’t to defeat Trump but to keep him on defense, shake him up, and knock him off his game, making it easier for the Democrats to beat him.
But she, like Ron DeSantis, doesn’t seem to understand the fight. They both want to turn the page before everything we live through is settled. Sure, some people feel that way. But that’s not where the energy is. Many of us are angry at the Democrats for what they’ve done to Trump. Why would she want to be on the side piling on?
She’s also a useful idiot for the Left to use in their unending need for Trump news:
That isn’t to say that Trump isn’t going at Haley like he did Ron DeSantis and everyone else. He calls her “Birdbrain” and has threatened for donors of hers to be barred permanently from the MAGA movement.
In an awkward counterplay, Haley attempted to turn it into Merch, bringing back how the Democrats used “Nevertheless, she persisted” and “Nasty Woman,” etc.
To get away with attacking someone like Trump doesn’t really work if you can’t survive it like he can. He has high-octane charisma and that makes it easier to forgive him almost anything. But Nikki Haley ain’t got it.
Nikki Haley morphing into Jen Psaki might work in the long run. Who knows, maybe she’ll run as a Democrat in the future. But she’s suddenly become, at least to me, extremely irritating in the same way Psaki is irritating.
She even has the same intolerable smugness when she insults him, goes along with any lies told about him, draws false conclusions, and then pushes them out to her followers. Maybe someone told her it was working, or perhaps she’s drunk on the attention she gets from the Left (like Chris Christie), but to my mind, it just tells me she has no shot to beat Trump.
Don’t Mess with Texas
Meanwhile, in Texas, from Tucker Carlson’s Twitter, an interview with Greg Abbott about the rising tensions over the border.
In an interview from India, Gov. Greg Abbott says ten other states have sent national guard to the Texas border, and others will follow. Abbott says he is “prepared” for a conflict with federal authorities.
Vivek Ramaswamy has endorsed Kari Lake:
She’s an outsider. She’s America-First. She’s all-in for sealing the border. She knows how to *eviscerate* the media. She’s unafraid. And she’s going to be a dominant U.S. Senator.
And here is Ted Cruz blasting the Biden Administration:
The Fix is In!
Matt Taibbi will be discussing the ongoing anti-democratic efforts to keep alternative candidates off the ballot.

Jon Stewart is Coming Back
Eliza Mondgreen asks Was Jon Stewart Always This Insufferable?
As someone who grew up watching The Daily Show, Stewart’s trajectory over the past few years has been painful to observe — and not just in the way that any bombed comedy set pains the audience. Stewart’s return to comedy raises some uncomfortable personal questions. Did I change? Did he change? In other words: what was I laughing at all those years? Was Stewart always so righteous and insufferable? Had I failed to see it because I’d been righteous and insufferable in just the same way? Were his interviews always so predictable? Somehow, the man whose show I couldn’t miss became the man whose every monologue I could have scripted had I been bored enough to try.
I used to mostly like Jon Stewart, at least he made an effort once upon a time, to criticize “both sides.” The best thing he could do is drive some common sense into the insane people on the Left. He has said in the past that it’s a mistake to describe Trump as a supervillain. But there is no way he, like anyone else on the Left, is going to sacrifice his status in the Royal Court to tell the whole truth. It will be like watching Bill Maher — useful, to a point.
This is a harbinger of just how unbearable this year is going to be as the establishment ruling class once again goes to war on Trump.
I will be posting a longer piece about the October surprise and the FBI. Watch this space. But in the meantime, have a nice weekend.
Nikki Haley is going the way of John McCain. At the moment she is useful to the Left, even celebrated by them, but, when the dust clears and she is homeless and friendless in the political arena, the Left will cry no tears for her.
I liked Vivek’s endorsement of Kari Lake. Many of these democrats are good people who are supporting evil people so what good is their goodness? People with good hearts and faulty minds are the ones who’ve paved the road to hell with the best of intentions. I live in Chicago and often see news videos about the “migrant crisis” here which worsens by the day not only here but nation-wide. Many of the white people they interview say we need to do everything we can to help these migrants. They have good hearts and the best of intentions but don’t understand that no borders means no country and no country is one of the many roads to hell.
