Of Migrants, Masks and Emmys

The disaster unfolding at the border is beyond comprehension. You probably don’t see it because you don’t watch Fox News or spend time listening to people on the right who play footage nonstop. If you watch CNN or MSNBC you’ll only hear about it if something goes wrong that makes the US look bad, like border officers supposedly whipping migrants. Instead, they were using whips to create distance between the horses feet and the migrants. None of it is good. All of it is terrible. For all of the people down there, and for the horses.

Fox has been showing footage since Biden took office, footage mainstream news won’t show because it’s considered inhumane to do so. People who live in those towns are in full-blown panic mode, not knowing what to do to care for so many desperate people flooding in. Apparently, this latest group of Haitian migrants were dumped there after having migrated from Haiti to other countries. The other countries don’t want to be responsible for feeding them, employing them, and giving them shelter. So they delivered them to Joe Biden, who appears to have his arms open.

It doesn’t really matter if Jen Psaki or Kamala Harris warn migrants not to come. Unless they’re focused on the news cycle or watching Chris Cuomo, they’re not going to get that message. What they know is Trump is gone so it’s safe to come.

These are thousands of people with their meager belongings hoping for the chance at a better life. They pitched tents, they carry crying toddlers. Makeshift tents. Pregnant women. As bad as it is, it is a step up from toddlers simply being left on our shores, as we’ve seen earlier - or maybe you haven’t seen because it’s mostly a news blackout on the left unless of course, there is something that makes the United States look inhumane. Then it wakes up the sleeping giant of the Trump-obsessed mainstream news on the left.

The difference between watching the Emmys last night and watching the migrants crowd the border is really like a dystopian sci-fi novel unfold in real-time. This, the same week that the New York Times broke the story that the Biden administration had accidentally killed a family, with maybe 7 children, in Afghanistan and tried to cover it up. They weren’t even going to tell the American public. Why not? The New York Times breaking the story at all is perhaps the best news to come out of any of it.

This, on the heels of the catastrophic exit from Afghanistan, where mothers were sacrificing their babies to American soldiers and bodies were falling off of our airplanes to their death, was noticed by a few in media, like Jake Tapper. But most of them more eager to pivot to January 6th, eager to pivot back to Trump - their forever supervillain - to deflect from the humanitarian crisis Biden just caused both at the border of this country and in Afghanistan. Yes, it’s his fault. He’s the leader of the Free World and he has made very bad decisions since he’s taken office.

Isn’t it funny (not funny) how when Trump was in power everything was his fault, and I mean everything - and now, when Biden is in power, nothing is his fault? Although his poll numbers are dipping dangerously, especially in Iowa, the Democratic machine and the dominant cultural forces will defend him, lie for him, cover up for him and praise him and his entire administration at all costs. They can’t let go even a little bit because to them that means Trump wins.

The media, and everyone who attended the Emmys, and almost everyone on my social media feeds must adhere to whatever the narrative has become. They stick to it, even when it exposes their hypocrisy. How many people on the left do I know who put the plight of “systemic racism” at the top of their list as the biggest problem facing America. Only to discover that they didn’t actually mean ALL BLACK PEOPLE. Only those who align with them politically, which is a great way of keeping under the control of the ruling class.

No one on the left, for instance, criticized the debacle in the California recall election. They didn’t have to because Biden flew out to throw Larry Elder under the bus by calling him a Trump clone.

Recently, Alec Baldwin called Governor Ron DeSantis “Jim Jones,” which is on a level of ignorance so profound it’s hard to wrap one’s mind around it. Jim Jones was an admitted socialist who exploited the black community before moving his flock to their supposed paradise where they walled themselves off from the rest of the world. Dissent was not allowed, even a little bit. They were forced to pretend they’d found paradise and when threatened to be exposed he forced them into mass suicide. There is nothing about Ron DeSantis that is even a little bit like Jim Jones - but Baldwin’s followers “liked” it anyway. '

Elder’s policies were radical and he was the wrong person for California - but it was astonishing to see this cognitive dissonance play out. It was equally unbearable to then watch the richest of the rich, like Bill Maher and celebrities attending the Emmys to do a victory dance on Elder’s loss, taking a warm bath in their privilege and getting applause for it.

They could not just treat him as an equal, however. He was not playing his proper role among the elite class on the left. How dare he think for himself. How dare he even try. Doesn’t he know the machine he’s up against? Well, now he certainly knows and anyone with half of a thinking brain and even a little objectivity certainly knows.

The Democrats own the media, and as long as they keep pivoting to evil Trump and evil Trump supporters they do not have to process what is happening elsewhere at the hands of this administration and in American culture. And even if they did process it, they ignore it and continue to use Twitter to direct the narrative in their favor. It’s hard to imagine any election ever being fair as long as the Left controls the media. They have shown their willingness to subvert the truth to win. I guess that’s politics, but now it’s mixed with entertainment and every other aspect of American life.

The images at the border juxtaposed with the Emmys - an industry of privileged people who really do believe they’ve solved the problem of inequality by simply populating their show with people of color while giving out all of their acting prizes to white people was really was quite something. You have to be able to step back from it to see it. Most people I know on the left are invested in being the good people, the chosen people, those who will lead us into the new era of American life.

That’s why the jokes were not funny. They went only in one direction. They mocked Trump supporters, as usual, they celebrated how great they were. Nothing was unexpected about this but it was disappointing.

It was like watching a talent show at a fundamentalist church or a cult where the jokes are only about people who do not go along with the chosen religion. Their nominated and awarded political shows that were pro-Democrats only and then they expect the other half of this country to watch their show. They could not even afford a single joke about themselves, and trust me, there has never been a subject more worthy of being mocked than the new puritans of the modern day left.

I am in the business of awards shows. I want to keep them alive. I want to keep film and television alive. But if it continues to head down this one-sided highway, it’s over. Film is over. TV is over. It is content made only for people who agree with their ideology and thus, it has lost touch with the underclass of this country.

And, like the Puritans of Salem, they are too afraid of everything to get any sort of healthy perspective about how they come off to the country and the world. It isn’t Small Pox or the Native Americans they fear, like in Salem in 1692. Instead it’s COVID and Trump. The fear has ballooned into hysteria with masks being forced on three year-olds. Children are spending all day in classrooms, totally masked, then sent out to the playground while also being expected to wear masks. Nowhere in this bizarre scenario does science come into play. The highly contagious COVID is microscopic. No cloth mask worn by a child, not to mention an adult, is going to stop it.

To people on the border and in Afghanistan worrying about COVID is a luxury. Hand sanitizer? Are you kidding me? Masks? Please. Vaccines are as unimaginable as a Tesla or a three-course meal. But to the privileged left it is the single greatest fear next to Trump. This is why the Right continues to call them out on their blatant mask hypocrisy at events like the Met Gala and now the Emmys where the people watch their privileged class parade around maskless while the servants in the background do are the only ones wearing masks.

If they had not spent an entire year shaming and blaming red state people for supposedly not wearing masks and blaming them for COVID it would not be so easy to mock them when they break their own rules. I went to an event at the Academy Museum yesterday where participants had to show a vaccination card and a negative COVID test and were still made to wear masks the entire time. If the fear is that high for vaccinated, tested and masked people I don’t see how we ever come out of this.

Hollywood and the Democratic Party is still run by very rich, very white people. The ruling class still runs this country and that has not changed this past year. In fact, corporations use the “woke tax” to escape the bigger crimes, the unethical things they do to their workers, to the environment, etc.

In his excellent book “Woke, Inc.,” Vivek Ramaswamy points out that “accountability to everyone is accountability to no one at all.”

It isn’t that they don’t care, or that the Democrats don’t care, or that they would give anything to lessen the suffering of the migrants. They definitely do. But they can’t change who they are. They can’t change what they are. Populating the Emmys with people of color then giving their acting prizes to all white actors is hypocrisy of the highest order. It’s the very definition of “virtue signaling” yet no one on the Left is going to go there. Their objective is to BE GOOD and to be good they have to look good.

Even if the Emmys tried to pretend everything was back to normal, it was obvious from both their palpable fear in how they staffed their show, and with the ratings that were a tiny bit better than last year but stil nearly catastrophic, that they have painted themselves into a corner. They want to be what they are not.

Trump continues to disrupt their idea of themselves, the story they want to tell about why they are. It wasn’t just that they wanted him out of office, off Twitter and gone from their lives. They want everything he stands for to be obliterated. They keep trying to “cancel” him, to purge him from their utopia as they have successfully purged so many. But the problem is, their world is shrinking, and the world outside of them is getting bigger and louder.

Whatever Trump’s failings as a man and a leader they aren’t what the Left so desperately fears. They have created in him a supervillain with supernatural power of them - and it is destroying everything good about the party and the culture. If they just loosened their grip a little bit, if they were even a little bit more tolerant, this country could unite. We need humor back. We need art back. We need the truth back. Otherwise, we are no better than the Puritans whose only education was the Bible.

The satirists we once knew have become full blown activists. They were awarded at the Emmys for it, of course. John Oliver and Stephen Colbert are heroes to the people of Salem and they believe this makes them heroes in history. They can keep writing and re-writing that history, telling it again and again and maybe they will make it true one day.

We lose so much when we lose touch with the truth. In science, art, history, music, journalism and yes, the Emmys - none of these things matter if they’re built on illusions and delusions. The recent poll in Iowa is a truth so unbearable the Democrats and their media will do everything they can to try to change how Iowans see Biden. And the Democrats. They will use all of the tools at their disposal to do this. But, as we saw with Afghanistan and now at the border, twitter can only do so much before real life starts to bleed through the pristine surface.
