I join the others in thanking you, Sasha, for posting these. Attention. Ramblings below:
I went into this interview suspecting I might skip through it or bail out early. Instead, for me, it was a fascinating dialogue between two people who know D.C. (the new Salem...or?) and the media (the new witch trialists...or?) and a whole lot more.
NEW fun fact for me: Bill O'Reilly and Trump have been friends for a long time. I could see why after O'Reilly detailed it, and maybe because of their sense of humor, I came out of this interview liking both O'Reilly and Trump a little more. I STILL don't like watching or listening to either of them all that much, but I think this was a great interview.*
*(Trump still sets my teeth on edge when he speaks in broad generalities, but I understand how useful that can be in a "projection screen" kind of way; and both Trump and O'Reilly have egos the size of the Atlantic. Sure, in some ways well deserved, but I'm inherently afraid of water.)
O'Reilly strings his sentences really well and loads them with specificity.
In a few short minutes, I got new details about the JFK assassination (a Russian "friend" from the CIA of Lee Harvey Oswald), the Salem Witch Trials, Salem these days, Fox News, President Trump, Billy Joel, people in the media, President Obrador, Bill O'Reilly, Benjamin Franklin, evil vs. good, V.P and President Biden, justice vs. injustice, Robert K. Hur, 2024 Election, Michelle Obama, the White House, and more...
My immediate reaction to this interview is "education". These are two rather well educated men. Men of thought, men who embrace what they were taught. Who use the width and breadth of their knowledge to inform their views. And to allow them to evaluate what is presented to them.
No wonder our education system is under full attack.
Thoughtful men such as Tucker and O'Reilly pose a threat to the system because they think for themselves. I found the way they presented themselves demonstrated two men capable of deep critical thinking. Somewhere along the line both of these men got an excellent education.
I fear we are indeed losing that. Look at Baltimore, look at the test scores. Look at the product being produced. We are, right now, graduating entire classrooms that have no ability to think critically.
Watching this was like watching a lost art. A disappearing capability.
At least that is what I took from it.
These are not shallow talking heads. These are men of engagement. No wonder they were successful on camera.
