There is an odd thing that is happening, which I’ve already written about but I thought I’d send out one more message. There are two prominent Sasha Stones online. One is me and the other is a man, Sacha Stone — spelled with a “c.” We both have websites that match our names so if you are only listening to Sacha Stone and he says “go to my website, sign up for my mailing list” you will undoubtedly type in “Sashastone.com” where I have posted a graphic of the other Sacha to direct people. But I don’t think they bother to read it. They see his photo and assume they’ve hit the right place.
I get emails and I believe many people find their way here thinking they have found the other Sacha Stone. They also follow me on Instagram despite the fact that I am most definitely a FEMALE.
How we are the same: we both appear to be original thinkers. But it mostly stops there. It might appear as though I am a “magical thinker” by the stories I write here but I am not. Sacha Stone lives in a massive mansion and posts quite lovely photos of himself on Instagram. I live in a two bedroom apartment in Burbank with two dogs and two cats.
He has a huge fan base. I have a few stragglers who have stuck with me through my ideological struggles over the past year.
We both appear to be drifting in a sea of non-tribalism. I know that I have no tribe because I do not belong on the left and I do not belong on the right. I just want to see people as people and not as tribes that hate and dehumanize each other. I have PTSD over Trump hate. The second someone starts in with how bad Trump is it’s like how I felt after my car accident a couple of years ago. I just shut down. I don’t want to hear it.
Sacha Stone seems to be more open to Trump, as many like him seem to be. They don’t fit the stereotype of the average Trump supporter (very few do, actually, they are a surprisingly diverse group of people). Trump is a bit like a rock star or a religious guru - he draws many of those who don’t belong anywhere else. Probably because Trump is a walking middle finger to so much of the established culture and government and they feel that way too.
I am a drifter in all ways. What I believe, what I do, how I live. Most people know me as the person who runs the website awardsdaily.com, formerly Oscarwatch.com (you can find out about this on my podcast memoir “Gold Tripping.” My readers there hate that I no longer spout the status quo of the left, which is why I started this mailing list.
I also came to prominence (in a really small way) in 2016 by writing and advocating for Hillary Clinton and the establishment Democrats. I fought hard with Bernie bros and Trump supporters as a warrior for the better half. Those people mostly have also dropped off my friendship lists. Some of them stick around because they’re nice people. But many abandoned me once I stopped being a faithful tribe member.
I have been online since 1994. I know the internet well. I have a very long and deep online footprint. Trust me when I saw it was much better before social media. Everything I have done since then has been interfaced with the online world. Dating, income, socializing - almost all of it has been done via the internet, with very little actual real life lived.
I have raised a baby daughter on my own, whom I adore. She is 22 and lives in New York now with her boyfriend. This makes me very sad as I miss her and don’t want to spend the rest of my life on the other side of the continent from her. So I am thinking about moving.
So fans of Sacha Stone - you have found your way here but I think you mean to head on over to sachastone.com.
I wish you all the best.

Hello, fellow drifter! I used to be an admin at firedoglake. One of your comments over at Taibbi's substack led me here. I'm adding you to my substack RSS feed. I wish I could donate money to you for your writing, but I live in a 600 sf house with 2 kids in Memphis, and am near the poverty line, myself. But you write and think very well!
