So who will be lighting the cities on fire this summer? Doubt it will be trump folks. I’m placing bets on the race hustlers and antifa getting the Obama prompt through Zuckerberg to “organize”

Will be a red hot summer indeed, just like 1968.

IF a Republican wins odds are you are correct, Fire In The Streets. It would not surprise me to find plans are being made now. At least in the preliminary stage.

OTOH if a Democrat win the election had better be pure as the driven snow with no strange unusual goings on. Otherwise Washington DC will find out just what an insurrection looks like. And its not a disorganized bunch of people wandering around The Capital taking selfies. It doesn't have to be violent (though I wouldn't bet against that). What would happen if (say)20-30% of Americans just went on strike? Take a page from MLK. Passive Resistance.

Point being, the reason America works is because we voluntarily participate.

Just thinking out loud.

“the reason America works is because we voluntarily participate.“

America no longer works. America is disintegrating in real time before our very eyes. This is just not working at all.

Expand full comment

Well, for sure the 1% don't work. They just make money off money. The wealthy no long help build up the country. But passive resistance could be something like refusing to participate in the consumer capitalist society. Stop buying s**t.

“Well, for sure the 1% don't work.”

I mean “work” in the sense of functions as a country. What still “works” in America? Pretty much every area in America, from race to gender to borders to education to the law to policing to the military to the msm, no longer works and is becoming ever more dysfunctional. America is no longer functioning as a country and increasingly appears to be the early stages of a civil war and you can see this deterioration on a daily basis just by following the profoundly deep divide between the corporate msm and the alternative media such as Substack.

Some 1%’ers work their whole lives to get there.

Well worth watching this Daniela Cambone interview with former IMF economist David Woo about our current situation which certainly is an ever worsening disaster. I like this guest interviewed, David Woo. Very intelligent and honest in his assessment of where we’re at. Here’s text I copied from the intro about him and the interview.

"If this polarization continues, we're heading towards a civil war," warns David Woo, former IMF economist and Wall Street strategist. Woo - the creator of David Wu Unbound - explains that the current situation of the U.S. is worrisome given its diminishing influence abroad and political divisiveness at home. "The majority of Americans do distrust the system...

“There's no doubt that the country is so polarized that I'm afraid what would happen next year in this election. If anything happens to Trump, all hell is going to break loose," he claims.

“We’re Headed Toward Civil War If We Remain Polarized.” (31 min)

I wouldn’t bother being jealous of the 1%. Their investment helps create business and future 1%’ers (the makeup changes). A small business that sells so the owner can retire creates a 1%’er that year.

What is important is that competition is allowed and not stifled by those at the top. This propaganda and de platforming are examples of stifling new leaders and businesses.

Expand full comment

Good points! Stifling competition takes away the power of the people to evaluate and choose whose products and services they like the best. It does get a bit more complicated, however, when certain companies deliver products and services that the whole world loves, so that those companies get too big and too powerful. Still, it would help if they could just keep their minds on their businesses and stop tampering with politics.

Expand full comment

Can't disagree in many ways. Nixon took us off the gold standard in 1971 and we have made less products by the year while the rich keep making money off of money. Main Street capital investment continues to retreat while Wall Street still makes money on the capital investment company stock value if it rises or falls.

And how about the Fed raising interest to crush the economy to bring down the inflation which they created with their flood of money printing? With friends like the Fed, who needs enemies? They’re sure not working for us.

The Democratic National Convention is going to be in Chicago next summer, just like the summer of ‘68. Considering how dangerous Chicago has become I don’t think that’s such a good idea.

This is the comment I was going to make. I'm old enough to remember the chaos and destruction in Chicago in '68. I had gone to school in Chicago a couple of years earlier, so it was even more real to me. For those too young to remember it, just think of Seattle and Portland in 2020. Samr thing, except that in Chicago the cops actually tried to stop it. But they failed.

My prediction is that the riots WILL happen in Chicago next year, regardless of who democrats nominate, and regardless of whether Trump continues to be a presence. Democrats made their bed, now they're going to have to lie in it.

The absence of God in chambers of influence (college campuses; Hollywood; media organizations; corporations; public schools; UN; social media platforms; Pulitzer, etc.) has led them to seek earthly gods to worship and glorify. Unfortunately, all earthly gods only bring eventual heartbreak, pollution and deterioration. Outside of the so-called chambers of influence, the true God reigns, sharing a message of love, grace, salvation and true eternal rest. The classical context for scapegoating is one in which there is a lot of obvious dysfunction, chaos, a system disintegrating, problems not being addressed. Having a powerful Demon to blame is helpful to members of the system who can't face the overwhelming scope of the problems, let alone their own contributions to the mess. I have seen a lot of this in families that include a drug addict. The family members spend most of their time together obsessing about the addict's problems, fearing the next relapse, scheming together about how to control the addict, how to confine him/her in a "lockdown unit," then panicking about what will happen when he/she "gets out." They imagine that while the addict is controlled and locked up all their own problems are locked up too, and when he/she "gets out," the mess within the family will explode outward like a blast of diarrhea.

Expand full comment

Huh. Usually it’s the addict or personality disordered person in the family doing the scapegoating. To deflect from their own behavior.

Expand full comment

From a family systems perspective, the "problem person" is needed by the system and functions as a kind of steam release. This isn't the only valid way to view addicted families, but there is a strong argument for it, one of which is that many if not most families of this type have had similar issues for generations.

Expand full comment

Yes, my mother's mother and her mother before her and who knows before that as I can't track back any further all had serious trauma issues and made sure the next generation had them as well. Thankfully I didn't end up personality disordered being raised by my mother and was able to heal my own interpersonal wounds before starting my own family.

I am estranged from my mother now but have great long-term relations with extended family members and all of my husbands family. Worth the estrangement for decades of happy marriage and two happy, well adjusted kids near ready to launch into adulthood themselves. I do wish my mother well though, despite knowing her odds.

The cycle can be broken!

And that foundation is the core of our power. If that is destroyed then we'll whither away. And we're already seeing it happen. They are destroying science by politicizing it, destroying equality by deciding to explicitly judge people based on their skin color, and destroying meritocracy on the same basis.
