What's the saying? When you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

I think that captures todays left.

"It has been painful and lonely. but thankfully, there are many out there who are in the same position as me... I am now a registered independent and am far more worried about what is happening on the Left than I am what’s happening on the Right."

YES!!!

I and millions of others could probably say exactly the same thing.

Never in a million years did I think I would become an Independent - I used to be furious with Independents, actually.

I used to think: "With so much at stake, how can they not choose sides?"

But as you said, today it's "my (former) side" that I'm most afraid of.

Thank You so much for your courage and insight.

You are FAR from alone!

I'm one of those who was 'drawn' by your comment, specifically your mention that the Counterreformation was driven by a need to defend the wealth of the popes against the obvious facts of the actual gospels. ... Also your mention of Ike stopping the madness. (He also stopped the madness of Korea. No president since then has even tried to stop or solve anything.)

Aha! Here's someone with a long and clear historical perspective, maybe worth following and supporting!

I'm confused about your revelation about the "Left' which you say was the Old Left that you could identify with. Was that Left the "good Left"? For old, not so subtle me, the political left was always communist. How are they different now? Why the sorrow over not reckoning with them. Trump was a revolutionary and messed with the status quo in DC. I appreciate your candor and awakening so don't apologize for how you feel.
