Sasha, your writing has been a source of encouragement and sadness for seeing what has become of our country. It is people like you that makes the world more bearable even though we don't agree on everything. It's refreshing to remain civil with each other and find common ground on many fronts. I hope that your Thanksgiving visit with your daughter's new family goes smoothly
"Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” -Psalm 100:1-5
Happy Thanksgiving from a grateful paid subscriber. You give me hope that the values I cherish and that founded this country are not dead. And that quite possibly, my far left children may one day see the light. Many blessing to you and your new extended family.
Your comment about sitting at a long table and breaking bread with us reminds me of the age old question, “If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be?” The answers were always people like Winston Churchill, Gandhi, JFK, Neil Armstrong and many many others who have been so prominent in our lives and in the growth of our world.
But I have to honestly say, if asked that question today, my answer would be along the lines of: Sasha Stone, Glenn Greenwald, Chris Bray, and some of the others who are holding the candles that are helping us find our way in these darkest of times.
I am thankful that they "invite us for dinner" all the time. The gifted writers with the ability and courage to look, see, think, process and then create and share. It is the true Thanksgiving ethos and a nourishing feast for the soul. It is the food of the second enlightenment.
Extending gratitude back at you Sasha. I find courage to forge on in these times with every article you post. You are a most brave, sincere and well researched writer. Your devotion to truth and your life long wisdom eminates in all you express. I trust you because you have fearlessly bared your heart and soul. God’s blessing to you and your family as you come together to create this special memory of meeting each other.
I am very touched by everything you wrote. Thank you so much for providing me with a sane and safe harbor within which to continue to be a normal American. God bless you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
