The Oscars aren't dying, the Oscars TV show maybe, but the Oscars will keep being awarded. Movie people are too vain to stop giving themselves awards. It is silly that the people with the greatest job in the world have the nerve to go on TV every year and kiss each other's ass in front of millions of people. I was a loyal idiot who watched every year but now good riddance.

Movies however are dying. Soon there will only be a handful of films that will have theatrical release and many movie houses will close. The poorest people in the industry, the people who sell you popcorn and soda will no longer have jobs. Everything else will be streamed and in a few years monthly rates for streamers will triple and triple again. Consumers will be screwed just like they were with cable. Rest assured though the millionaire's who make movies will find a way to dress up and tell us how wonderful they are.

Creativity in film is already dead. The best movie of the year for me was a stylish thriller called Last Night in Soho with some thrilling directorial flourishes by Edgar Wright. It was ignored by the Academy, I guess because it was made by an obsolete white guy.

Thanks Sasha. Been reading you for a couple of months and appreciate your truth telling and stones to go against the narrative mob. Stay strong and never accept lies.
