yes though at the age of 60 Harris learning curve is spent. she won't change either so all her weaknesses will be there. We aren't talking about brilliant candidates here so expecting that is fool's erand.

the switch does not guarantee that all Biden voters will automatically flock to her. one has to distinguish between delegates, unions, donors, etc falling in line and actual voters. The reason is demographic change. going from a man whose biggest strength was appealing to working class (that feels increasingly disfranchised) to a woman who is a poster for salon politician and establishment/elite is going to create some big shifts. We currently only hear about wine moms and Tik Tok youth (many who don't vote yet) excitement because that's how nomination bumps work. Consolidation of votes in both directions (gain/loss) will take at least weeks.

She isn't a new face but extension of the previous administration. That means that while she can take credit for admin's success she will also take the blame for admin's failures (inflation, crime - she was big on defund the police, immigration - she was appointed to take care of that)

Her rise both as a VP and a nominee feels unearned since she dropped out of one primary early and never had another, and people do pay attention to that. They respect fighters they do not respect "failing upwards"

She doesn't have her own platform and convictions but seems to flip-flop depending on what's popular at the moment. so sometimes she sounds like The Squad sometimes like Republicans. It's hard to pinpoint what she actually stands for and voters like clarity not mixed messages.

Contrary to popular belief, "historical narrative" is something only groups that narrative impacts care about. Others don't and it could be a turn-off.

she's not a good manager. Staff turnout creates instability

doesn't have people's touch by which I mean people who are not upper class that she spent all her life with. Courting donors and Hollywood is very different from courting factory workers.

In 4 years as VP, she was relegated to court voters she already had - black women mostly, black voters in general, pro abortion women in blue states. She isn't a known commodity outside of that bubble because she never reached out to potential voters for Biden-Harris (eg Trump held rallies in deep blue states with an intention to court voters whom he didn't have)

She isn't a good speaker so she doesn't get her points across and comes off as if she doesn't know what she's talking about. That's a problem when you have to sell a program you're running on.
