Trumps biggest asset is the fact that his opponents are morons. The more they attack him,the more popular he gets. Biden calling him broke Don shows just how out of touch the Dems are to the American people. They have turned Trump into a martyr

Their obsession with destroying Trump is also destroying the country though. We no longer even have a common reality with these people. How do we have a country without something as basic as that?

Yes, they want Trump to disappear so badly , they threw moral principles, our freedoms, law and order, and common sense under the bus. The people who are trying to destroy him completely lost any self awareness. And as they move to shut him up or lock him away, they trample on all societal norms. I don’t see how or why future government officials or politicians are able to go back to at least some level of integrity. The situation is demoralizing.

Old saying: "Liberals think conservatives are evil, conservatives think liberals are stupid."

Expand full comment

Except that is a false paradigm – If you logically think if over, you realise that liberals actually belong over on the Pro-freedom Right next to Conservatives.

If the political spectrum is supposedly ‘liberal’ on the left and conservatives on the right, then where do you place leftists that were or are communist dictators?

Was Mao a ‘liberal’?

Was Pol pot a ‘liberal’?

Was Stalin a ‘liberal’?

If you can’t resolve those questions, then the ‘liberal-conservative’ paradigm isn’t valid by any stretch of the imagination.

Expand full comment

Certainly one must differentiate between leftists and classical liberals. Was Hitler a conservative? Was the National Socialist German Workers Party actually right wing.? Many modern American conservatives are actually classical liberals. What is MAGA but an attempt to hold onto the classic ideals of the rights of the individual versus a federal leviathan trying to control everything in it's path? I think totalitarians use whatever thought system they find convenient, and it's more a matter of good or evil in their hearts. There seem to be two types of people, those who want to control other people and those who don't. So yes, it's certainly, more complicated than that, but it is an old saying.

Expand full comment

Yes, I agree, we’re distinguishing between leftists and classic liberals.

Sidenote: Most dictionaries don’t distinguish between liberal and classic liberals – they usually don’t define the later. The last time I checked, most online dictionaries don’t define the term either.

So, in effect liberal and classic liberal are the same thing. So, leftists are exploiting certain words to confuse the situation. But as you said, it all boils down to this quote:

"Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire."

Robert A. Heinlein

We’ve documented more than 24 commonalties between the Democratic and Nazi parties – with one other thing, leftists hardly ever try to prove that they were ‘right-wing’ and curiously fall back on the socialism aspect.

Expand full comment

And somehow we always hear about the mass killings of the NAZIs but not those of the Communists. Bias anyone? I like Heinlein too.

Expand full comment

You’ve noticed that too.

Dennis Prager made that point a few years ago:

Why Isn't Communism as Hated as Nazism?

https://www.prageru.com/video/why-isnt-communism-as-hated-as-nazism

But I have a theory that there is one additional reason – ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the left has tried to push the evils of the Nazis to blot out the record of the communist block.

It’s also the reason they’ve expended an inordinate amount of gaslighting to try and switch the sides of the Nazis – along with Stalin – from the afterword in the 1961 edition of George Orwell’s 1984:

AFTERWORD To George Orwell’s 1984 By Erich Fromm “the Betrayal Of The Socialist Hopes By Stalin's Reactionary State Capitalism”

I grudgingly voted for Trump twice and I wish that the GOP would nominate a much better person in 2024. I worked for many years as a federal bank examiner and I have no doubt that Trump deliberately inflated the value of his assets on documents submitted to lenders. But the banks haven't alleged fraud or any harm done to them; they took Trump's figures with a grain of salt and did independent valuations of his assets. This case is selective prosecution and reflects poorly both on the NY Attorney General and on Trump.

Expand full comment

I would think the ruling on Trump's valuations means banks and appraisers that have undervalued properties can be sued for that low valuation which prevented a larger loan.

Expand full comment

Borrowers can't sue a lender for doing independent valuations of assets that are performed in good faith and that result in lower valuations than what the borrower provides. Borrowers can try other lenders if they don't agree with the terms that a bank offers them. Over time American banks refused to lend to the Trump organization because the banks didn't trust the financial data he provided. That fact has been noted in various business news articles and is well-known among bank regulators.

Expand full comment

"In good faith" is questionable. There's also what I believe is the real estate and mortgage industries colluding with appraisers to inflate home prices to the detriment of borrowers.

Expand full comment

Banks have no reason to value assets for less than they are reasonably worth. If anything, the problem would be overvaluing assets to justify lending more money to a business; loans are by far the biggest source of income for banks. As for consumer mortgages, the rules for appraisers are quite strict now following the financial meltdown in 2008. Almost all residential home sales are made to the highest bidder; realtors don't control the bidding.

In 2018 it was simply to block Trump in orifice. Now, I believe, it is so they can pass a 'law' to keep Trump off the ballot. The last time was 1860. These people are very dangerous, because they do NOT have the will of the People. At all. At least in 1860 there was a large Southern base for secession.

The Marxist progressive left has made it clear: If you want peace and stability, restore the Party of Obama and let it complete it’s work, the transformation of America. Choose Trump and you choose war. Trump gets it and a growing number of Americans do as well. President Trump says he will pay the bond in cash. Oh how I would love to see a convoy of trucks with some combination of change and small bills (I'd say all pennies except I doubt the treasury has 17.5 billion pennies on hand).

As it is, paying with $100s (the largest denomination currently in circulation) will require a stack 627 feet high. Or 8, 3'x8' tables, with stacks 3 feet tall covering the entire surface of each table.

Or get 314 men and women in suits, each with a 2'X1'X1' briefcase full of Benjamins. Line them up and make the feds count each and every briefcase.

“JUST IN: Donald Trump's net worth jumps to $6.5 billion making today Trump's single-greatest day ever for his wealth.

At this very moment, Trump's $175 million bond in the NY fraud case makes up just 2.7% of his net worth.

The sudden jump in Trump's net worth is thanks to Trump Media’s merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp.

DWAC shares jumped 35% today after the 29-month-long merger process went through.

Trump has a 58% stake in the company that will soon be trading under the 'DJT' ticker symbol.

The former president will not be able to cash in on any of his shares for about six months. His net worth will likely be volatile going forward.”

It's not illegal in the United States to pay somebody to keep their mouth shut about a private interaction. It's my understanding that it is being claimed that the expense should've been treated as a campaign expenditure. I think it's fairly easy to argue that the primary reason for spending the money was to prevent embarrassment to his wife. He probably would've paid hush money to anybody who was going to cause that harm to his reputation or his family regardless of whether he was running for president or not.

Maybe if I watched MSNBC and read more of the NYT, I would be persuaded that:

Donald Trump is a Russian agent! The walls are closing in! Expert journalists won Pulitzers!

COVID could not have originated in a lab doing research on bat viruses eerily like COVID! It came naturally from bats! All the experts say so, and they forbid you to ask any questions! That’s just a conspiracy theory!

Hunter’s laptop has all the earmarks of Russian disinformation! 51 experts say so!

Crackhead Hunter set up 20 shell companies to receive over $20 million from foreign entities. This is totally normal and not evidence of any nefarious behavior!

Jan 6 was totally an insurrection! These people were too armed-they were using flagpoles and fire extinguishers to overthrow the most powerful government in the world!

Fani Willis and Letitia James are only interested in seeking justice! All the experts say so! Fani totally paid cash for her share of the vacations, and Letitia did not base her election campaign on a promise to get Trump!

Maybe if I watched enough Rachel Maddow and read enough NYT, I could be persuaded to jettison my provincial idea of common sense, reason and logic, and fully embrace the “experts”.

But I doubt it.
