People claiming that “going after” the Democrats or Joe Biden or whatever is just tit-for-tat or, worse, just out of revenge, are missing the entire point and exercise of the Rule of Law.

Everything they threw (and continue to throw) at Trump, from the totally fraudulent Russia collusion hoax set up by Hillary and John Brennan and Obama, or the utterly absurd impeachment circuses were ALL not only made up from whole cloth, but were also ALL egregiously unlawful, in so many ways shaped and forms it would be hard to list the laws that were broken in those efforts.

The indictments they are trying to bury Trump under likewise are so foul they should stink up a court room with their twisted legal machinations.

The Jan 6th event was the cherry on the sundae of illegal set-ups in an effort to crush the entire MAGA movement and lay the groundwork for trying Trump for insurrection for refusing to be silent about their other mind blowingly illegal coup via rigging the 2020 election!

We’re going after them FOR BREAKING THE LAW, which is exactly what we should be doing!

They go after us so they can continue to break it over our heads.

Time to turn the tables…in the right direction.

This is reminiscent of Neville Chamberlain when he made a deal with the devil, in the form of Adolf Hitler, to have "peace in our time". What he actually got was WWII.

We know who and what Hilary, Pelosi, Joe et al are. They can NOT to be reasoned with. They don't even understand the concept of fairness. Power is what they know, and it is what they crave. They will take anything we will let them take form us.

Leftists are 'without the law'. They recognize no law and break it whenever it suits their purposes. As such, they go beyond being mere law-breakers, who need to be punished, but are 'outlaws' and must be eliminated. When we see Westerns, they show wanted posters for 'outlaws'. Sometimes they say: "wanted dead or alive". But this isn't necessary -- outlaws have no protection of any law. Anybody is welcome to kill them on sight, and have no fear, except perhaps a citation for littering.

Of course, this is only how normal, healthy societies operate. Think of it as 'weeding your garden."

The House claims to have bank records of those payments and companies. Either a) the House is full of shit or b) Biden is. I guess we'll see. In the meantime, why don't you just pretend that the Republicans have a pee tape of Biden and Putin partying with Mr. Ho (a Hunter associate and member of the PRC) who's currently under indictment.

Same with 2020 election irregularities. If any claim is made by a conservative or against a liberal, the standard is always "no PROOF" and liberals ignore the EVIDENCE. On the other foot, all any liberal has to do is make an ACCUSATION with any shred of EVIDENCE, and all legacy media run with it 24/7 and all liberal sheep swallow it whole as fact. I remember when the public school and higher education system was up to the task of making young people aware of the differences among ACCUSATION, EVIDENCE, and PROOF.

They have gotten away with stoking race-based violence in 2020 with public words of incitement, but in glorious hypocrisy blame Trump directly for Jan 6 (and lie about the "death toll" of Jan 6 non-stop). I am all for holding Biden accountable for any illegal activities. After all haven’t we heard from democrats that “no one is above the law”?

The issue I have is that Biden, in my opinion, is no longer making decisions. He follows whatever script is placed in front of him. Harris is a radical left winger but seems clueless so I think the actual decisions/policy setting is done by people on his staff. Susan Rice, whoever the COS is currently, etc. Sort of Weekend at Bernies stuff.

So while Biden is hung out to dry, the radical left wing policy decisions will continue. This is one of those rare instances where impeaching the leader will have no effect what so ever on gov’t operations. It will feel good but in the end will have no impact.

The way to beat the radical left is to win several elections, get control of the levers of power and purge the gov’t of these radicals. Whether you like DeSantis or not he has executed a blueprint in Florida that is successful. Get control of gov’t and use every lever.

At this point, no reasonable person could dispute the need for there to be an impeachment inquiry into the Biden's corrupt dealings. We've come from "Joe knows nothing of Hunter's dealings," to "yeah, Biden was on the line in twenty phone meetings, and cash has been distributed to a couple of generations or more of Bidens, but Joe did not get any of it, at least not that we know of." Please. I think the technical term is a "predicate" for the investigation. We've got that.

First, there needs to be a full, complete, non-stonewalled investigation into the Biden influence peddling empire, and if the facts confirm what seems to be the case now, the House needs to proceed with impeachment. Simple as that, the integrity of the entire system is at stake, and maybe the security of the country.

At this point, the Biden Administration appears possibly to be the most corrupt in American history, and demands investigation. What the Dems did to Trump has nothing to do with it.

In the end, millions of dollars went to Biden's family members. Millions. That's not just smoke, it's flames. Biden has acquired far more than his salaries would be capable of. More flames. 150 Suspicious Activity Reports. More flames.

A lot of this was revealed in Peter Schweitzer's 'Secret Empires'. The guy, Biden, has been selling outcomes for years. He's totally compromised and the only people who can trust him are the people who can destroy him with these revelations.

I've come to the conclusion that this is why the deep state hates Trump. They really have nothing on him and he's about a thousand times smarter than they are. They can't control him so they hate him and they've tried their level best to destroy him. At this point, their frustration will be the biggest danger Trump faces.

But what I think is more important is the blatant politicization of our Department of "Justice". As I read the lay of the land, connecting this to Trump's impeachment as "revenge" is simply another faux Democrat narrative.

One need only look at Biden's record since he was installed in office to see multiple impeachable offenses. What I don't understand is why they're not proceeding on two tracks simultaneously: Impeachment and invoking the 25th Amendment. There's no argument that can be made that Biden is in any way mentally fit to be the president of the United States.

And I will bring Trump into the discussion as to the 25th Amendment. The rot that is the party formerly known as the Democrat party was trying to use the 25th Amendment against someone who had his mental capacity.

We truly are living in a period where truth, evidence and reality are completely disregarded -- and that would be by the Banana Republic Party, formerly the Democrat Party.

Gwyneth,

Many thanks.

Some weeks ago I had a discussion on this site with Sasha concerning the Federal search warrants for highly classified documents at Mar-A-Lago.

I argued that a Federal prosecutor had gone before a Federal judge and established that there was probable cause to believe that Donald Trump was illegally in possession of highly classified documents. As such, the Mar-A-Lago search warrants followed standard procedure and hence were perfectly legal.

Sasha took a different view. She questioned whether the standard legal procedures concerning search warrants in criminal investigations ought to apply to Donald Trump. She seemed to feel that because Donald Trump was a former President the search warrants should not have been granted.

Given your just posted answer concerning the applicability of the search and seizure laws in criminal cases, which one of us is right?

It really depends on whether Trump is covered by the Presidential Records Act or the Espionage Act. If it’s the former then the warrants were ill gotten and if it’s the latter the warrants were ill advised. I happen to believe that President Trump was the President and since all power resides in the executive he could think to himself “declassified” and it would be. I also think he had good reasons to keep certain documents as, apparently, our government is intent on putting him in prison for anything it can.

So true Jeff, and that failure was intentional. That is why I support an impeachment inquiry. The corruption is deep and encompassing. Even though some, think the President is not really running the country, he is the one who took the oath and promised to do so. Although his lucidity is questionable, his legal obligation is not. He must answer for the illegal and unequal treatment of the law by his Attorney General and Justice Department. We deserve to question the involvement of his family regarding any foreign or domestic monies exchanged during his tenure as Senator, Vice President or President. Maybe this time there will be an actual “high crime”.

Biden should be impeached because there are strong indications he was taking bribes. That is grounds for impeachment even though he did them while VP and probably as a senator.

Two points.

1) My Political Junkie Self: We need some move toward impeachment in order to avoid our moderates in swing districts being knocked off (in the primaries) by radicals too far out to win. How far this move should go is less than clear to me. The pointlessness of a Senate trial could well do us a lot of harm.

2) My Would-Be Lawyer Self: We need to be ready to cite chapter and verse about the evidence, which is hardly "zero". I heard Dan Bongino doing that as I was marathon driving, but I do not remember all the cases. The only ones I can think of now are a) H paying J's electric bill, b) H complaining about how much of his money he had to give to J, c) H and J splitting a 10 million dollar kickback from the Ukrainian aid package back in 2014(?). d) the Bidens setting up various shell companies to get H's money to other Bidens, e) various trips together on Air Force 2, f) various meeting involving J's looming intimidatory presence ("We wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you"), and g) at least one "suspicious activity report" (apparent money laundering) from a bank. I would appreciate it if others could tell me what I am forgetting ... it's a lot to remember!

Biden's on the way out no matter what. I'd love nothing more than to see him hounded from office but that's less important than stopping the war.

We can do both.

Unfortunately, too many Republicans jumped on board for the #proxywar. There are not enough Americans (hardly any, I'd say) telling their Republican legislators to stop funding this heinous war. Are people cowed now that they will be thrown into prison for having an anti-war opinion? Or, are they taking Zelenskyy's threat seriously that Ukrainians here are going to start trouble here? How much can this guy extort us?

It's absolutely obscene. 500,000 dead or injured Ukrainians. Millions of Ukrainian refugees created, likely never to return to the Ukraine. Who knows how many Russians dead. All because folks like Blinken and Nuland and their neocon buddies have been plotting this for years, with their weird ideologies and personal family histories of grievances against Russia. We have no business doing what we've done.

The most blatant example of the U.S. and the Global West being the bad guys.

David French has become totally ideological and has forgotten basic legal precepts - or perhaps he realizes his audience ill informed and he can make a quick buck off of them because they’ll never bother to check his BS.

As lawyer Jeff Childers wrote today …

“It’s impossible to argue about evidence without first defining terms. So let’s start by defining what “evidence” is, under the law, since the legal standard is what applies to impeachment inquiries. Don’t let anyone gaslight you on the definition of “evidence.” Here’s how Black’s Law Dictionary, a recognized authority that can be cited in legal memoranda, defines “evidence:”

“Something, including testimony, documents, and tangible objects, that tends to prove or disprove the existence of an alleged fact; anything presented to the senses and offered to prove the existence or nonexistence of a fact.”

Jeff also wrote to counter the never ending media obfuscation ….

“An impeachment inquiry can be opened in two ways. The first, traditional, way is a vote of the full House of Representatives, which until President Trump’s term was the only way you could do it. The new second way has been called the “Pelosi Precedent,” where the Speaker of the House can just “announce” an impeachment inquiry, and bingo-bongo, you’re cooking with gas. That’s how former Speaker Pelosi started the Trump impeachments, both of them, breaking from prior procedure and creating a whole new easier and faster way.

It was turbo impeachment! So, that’s what Kevin McCarthy did. He just followed the Pelosi Precedent and announced the impeachment. It only takes one person now.”

MY TAKE.

From the moment DJ Trump came down the escalator he had a target on his back. The American people were tired of the pontificating, nauseating day after day BS from a man who did nothing for the American people but divided a country with the race card. Hillary Clinton who was just as bad as acid reflux at 2am felt entitled to "break the imaginary glass ceiling" and was adored by her pathetic brain dead press corp and followers ( 😳 )but the American people said NO ! Hillary and her loser posse the Progressive Democrats declared war on the American citizens choice of DJ Trump and come hell or high water they were going to impede his agenda and make sure he was defamed and out of office for good.

Through lies, denial (Hunters Laptop story from Miranda Devine NYPost & Tony Bobalinski's confession) and corrupt voting JR Biden became President in 2020.

The American people who actually voted said WTF happened ? And thankfully some in Congress did too.

What was discovered was Hunters Laptop was indeed real and full of information that led to the discovery of JR Bidens knowledge of Hunters business dealings of which Joe said he knew nothing about. "He lied directly to the faces of the American people."

Bad Joe !

Moving forward this impeachment inquiry is just an inquiry but truth be said JR Biden could end all of this inquiring by taking a polygraph test or simply testify before Congress tomorrow if he is "truly clean". But he won't.

What he will end up doing because he is such a pathetic President (and VP is worse) is step aside before he is hog tied with charges.

Tit for tat ? No. DJTrump was victim of a woman who felt entitled (thank god we missed that bullet). Joe R. Biden is a victim of his own making.

TRUMP 2024 !

Thanks for opening this up! I understand the committees have been doing their due diligence & are getting blocked every step of the way but it's completely reckless NOT to try Brandon & Co. because his actions have truly been egregious. We're not even talking about double standards at this point but NO standards, simply the ability of those in power to manipulate & do to their enemies as they will. That Ukraine has long been a sinkhole, with the added bonus of possibly leading to a nuclear confrontation, is something a country with a free press would have been alerted to, say, maybe in 2014? Maybe earlier? The few sane souls to even suggest such things have been increasingly marginalized, labeled carriers of water for Putin etc. The late Prof. Stephen Cohen, an actual scholar of Russia, was increasingly raked over the coals by a liberal/left/progressive media that once greatly respected him, for his eminently sane positions & the fact that The Tucker Carlson Show, for instance, was one of the last places that regularly consulted him. The fact that there could even be a discussion over the idea of going ahead with at least an impeachment inquiry (everyone knows an actual impeachment will be next to impossible), is almost shocking to me. Of course there needs to be an inquiry &, perhaps, something might actually leak into the mainstream press & make people understand the depth & corruption at play. More importantly, the contempt with which the current White House resident holds the citizenry in, is unlike anything I've ever seen, & the more it can be exposed through his history of corruption, the better.

What will be telling is not only what is revealed in the investigation, but the level of interference that will be thrown in the way of the investigators. Consider this article below from a political science professor. In the section, “Race: Students for Fair Admissions vs Harvard College” he says “The new constitutional rule is that the equal protection clause is a promise to treat all citizens of all races the same, rather than the alternative understanding of the clause’s promise to move society toward equity among racial groups, which allows or even encourages the differential treatment of some groups in order to make up for past injustices.”

He’s interpreting the Constitution through the lens of Woke “social justice” which sees the world in terms of “oppressors” (whites) vs the “oppressed” (“people of color” in general and blacks in particular.) These are the type of judges though that Biden is appointing to the federal courts. Vivek says he will issue an Executive Order banning race based affirmative action on his first day if elected. That’s exactly the opposite of what Biden did on his first day in office which was to issue an Executive Order to replace meritocracy wherever it can be found with Equity aka Equal Outcomes. This is now an irreconcilable difference in America between the Woke vs the nonWoke. This is an impossible situation. A totally unworkable society.

“A constitutional revolution is underway at the Supreme Court, as the conservative supermajority rewrites basic understandings of the roots of US law.”

An impeachment inquiry is fully justified. The Biden-controlled executive branch is doing everything possible to conceal Joe's involvement in the family influence peddling/attempted bribery scheme. If Joe did nothing illegal, he will come clean on exactly how involved he was. If his activities were technically legal but politically embarrassing, he would be better off admitting to those activities rather than doing the most damaging thing: covering them up.

The danger for Republicans is that during public hearings they will do what elected Congresspeople do 99.999% of the time: they will grandstand for the cameras, trying to get their soundbites on TV news. If Republicans are genuinely serious about Biden corruption, they will do what the Watergate committee did in the 1970s - have competent litigators do most of the examining of the witnesses. Give the Republican counsel 60-90 minutes to examine a witness, then give the Democratic counsel equal time, back and forth. If Republicans don't want this impeachment inquiry to be regarded as blatant partisanship, then they will conduct themselves like serious professionals rather than like publicity hounds and glory seekers.

I agree that Biden shouldn't be impeached 'just because' Democrats did it, but there's plenty of reason to impeach him on the merits. I've talked to a lot of centrist types who say we shouldn't make this a regular thing and two wrongs don't make a right. But this isn't a wrong first off. And second, if you use that as your rule then it effectively lets left wing radicalism become a shield for them. They can impeach like crazy and then guess what, you can't respond no matter what! You gotta be better. Classic Marquess of Queensbury rules. No more of that. Time to give them some of their own medicine.
