I watched all the horrible news Tucker reported with a sigh of relief knowing I can trust the source. Refreshing to say the least! Beyond glad he's back:)

I don’t trust Tucker on his assertion that we should assume Ukraine blew up Nordstream. The evidence says otherwise

Expand full comment

There is an article out today that Ukraine was behind it.

Expand full comment

Yes, there is that story. Sam would you mind posting the source of that story?

I see stuff on MSM all the time that isn’t accurate but does support a narrative.

I think it important we don’t swallow everything we are told by MSM. At least that is my takeaway after Covid.

For me, Tucker undercut his piece today by telling me to assume Ukraine blew up Nordstream. Usually I’m nodding my head in agreement w/ him. That statement he made though, made me pause

Expand full comment

I haven't listened to Tucker's piece but article referencing it were that he was talking about a dam. The piece that appeared today was in the New York Post and referenced an article in the Washington Post using info from an intelligence report posted by the dumb-ass Air Guard intelligence specialist. You mentioned Seymour Hersh's piece, which I read. However, it must be remembered that Hersh has some up with pretty outlandish claims in recent years which may or may not be true.

Expand full comment

Yes, the thrust of Tucker piece was the dam blow up. He linked it to Nordstream to bolster his connection and I thought that was incorrect and lazy. I guess I’m expecting more from him now that he is untethered from Fox. Guess we need to wait and see where he moors next…

I don't think it's crazy at all to think they did it. They are attacking Moscow already, they're clearly willing to do just about anything.

Expand full comment

If they did, they had to use our equipment and probably manpower. That pipeline attack was not the Boris and Natasha type of operation Ukraine might be able to pull off without help. It would be just like the criminals running our government to blame it on Ukraine in exchange for allowing them to use our support to attack Russia. Whatever the truth, we are heading for war with Russia and Ukraine is being leveled and depopulated in the process.

Expand full comment

I don't think enough is known about the pipeline to pass judgement. Information is classified for a reason.

I didn’t believe anything they said yesterday. I am convinced I should not believe what they are saying today. They are like a weathercock constantly rotating under the wind from the WH.

In science, engineering, and geopolitics, we often do not get direct evidence of anything. The systems are set up to avoid the proverbial “smoking gun” at all costs.

Yes, the preponderance of evidence shows that it was Ukraine behind the terrorist act of blowing up the Nordstream pipeline; but ultimately, it was us, the USA that gave the order and made the act possible.

...or is anyone still believing that Hunter Biden’s laptop was never verified and part of a Russian disinformation campaign??

Expand full comment

If the US gave the order, it would be an act of war and Russia would be justified to launch missiles at any target in the United States it should so choose. I doubt the US actually gave any order, they don't work that way. What probably happened is that the US didn't tell them not to do it. It's called Plausible Deniability and is a byword in government, especially when related to clandestine military matters.

Expand full comment

I agree with most of what you said here except I believe the USA did give the order. We also facilitated the terrorist act with training, equipment and most likely, personnel ...as Ukraine lacks the capability to hit an undersea pipeline at that depth and that accurately without our systems and other deep sea marine navigation and targeting systems.

Probably akin to leaving a loaded gun and instructions on a table in a room full of terrorists and walking out of the room.

Eric, you're speculating about Ukraine's capabilities. The articles claim Ukrainian special ops people planned to rent a boat then dive down and set charges, which is not exactly complicated. Diving only goes back to the early Twentieth Century using helmets. Also, Ukraine was a major contributor to the Soviet military and when the USSR fell apart, they took equipment and knowledge with them. The United States is hardly the only country with special ops personnel. North Vietnam's special ops capabilities possibly exceeded ours. North Vietnamese special ops people scaled a large karst tower in Laos and took out a radar site. US and civilian contractors thought it was impregnable. Special ops "sappers" swam across a lagoon to hit the Air Force base at Cam Rhan Bay, then on another occasion they blew up the ammunition dump. Ukraine no doubt has the capability, and they had the impetus to sabotage it. Yes, the US has been pontificating about the pipeline going back to Trump but pontificating and doing something are not the same. The US does want to sell gas in Europe but there are no Transatlantic pipelines and gas has to be transported across the Pond by ship. There is gas an oil in the North Sea but the largest reserves in the world are - guess where. That's right, Russia.

I don't know - Seymour Hersh laid out a pretty convincing case for the US/Ukraine doing the deed. And with fanatics like Nuland, Sullivan and Biden's other handlers, I'd bet my life they were involved.

Expand full comment

The Seymour Hersh piece had just one anonymous source, but notwithstanding the lack of hard evidence, at least it's credible to believe that US did it. It's much harder to believe that the Ukrainians had the means to do it undetected by the entire world.

Carlson, on the other hand, tells us that it's "obvious" to your "average yak herder" ...after railing about tautological arguments. In his media kingdom, facts aren't exactly coin of the realm.

I’m not sure it’s irrelevant. If the USA did the Nordstream deed it’s an act of war. I’m thinking of our history, (littered?) with these kind of events, and bloodshed flowing thereafter. Two that spring to mind are sinking of the USS Maine (Havana Harbor 1898, Spanish-American war resulting) and the Gulf of Tonkin Incident/Resolution (1964, paving way for US regular troop deployment to Vietnam)

Yes…eyes wide open I see!

I meant that whether one trusts that Tucker is telling the truth or not is irrelevant.

So if Russia nukes the USA because from their perspective, we are at war with them and we are much bigger and more formidable an enemy; therefore, asymetric warfare tactics must be used to stop us from destroying their country…would you be surprised?? Would they have a point? Or did Ukraine not just attack Moscow with American drones and did not a high ranking government official in the USA just say on television that killing Russians was “the best money we ever spent.” ???

Or would we say, like we always do, “that it was a dastardly evil unprovoked attack, and they must be annihilated!”

Hey Tom, read at least Jordan’s substack post today for why not. Then read Seymour’s for why likely the USA did it (Nordstream, not the dam).

Nope. Russia clearly wouldn’t do it. It would cut off their money supply.

The communists ruling the USA Today might wish to do it, to kill millions of Americans with starvation and death for “climate change.” The near future possibility of an “American Holomodor “ a real one.

But… always follow Occam’s Razor 🪒, the easiest explanation is usually the correct one. I heard it differently. I think he is referring to the dam when he makes that comment. But I admit that discussing the pipeline in the same breath is problematic, confusing and poorly written.

The complexity of the pipeline job was off the chart, as Sy Hersh laid out. IMO there is no way that happens without the US knowledge and involvement. That area was awash in US naval vessels at the time. At best the US let it happen. At worst (and I think most likely) is that the US ran the operation all the while having Ukraine as the available scapegoat if need be.

My point is that it is not one or the other. It’s both. Ukraine with the US did it. After all, US provided weaponry is what is killing Russians, right? What’s the difference? Was Zalinski the one who pushed the red button to detonate the C4 that the US attached to the pipeline? That’s my point. A conventional proxy war to hopefully avoid a nuclear war. Corruption is the reason and it points back to Biden.

You make a fair point. My initial thinking is that our government makes a big show/public production of sending guns/butter to Ukraine. But on the natural gas pipeline blow up, the same government doesn’t take the same responsibility. Why is that? I think it’s because it would be ‘too direct’ US intervention and international condemnation would result. And if international heat rose too much, USA would be viewed as the ‘bad guy’ and then the war would be seen as unjust and growing calls for it to cease. Stopping war = stopping neocon and Military Industrial Complex.

So, that is the difference in my current thinking.

I’d suggest this proxy war should end or risk of tactical nukes grows. The dam bust today under proxy war, may be putting a nuclear power plant under stress in the medium to long term if they can’t keep the reactors cool (those reactors historically used that man made lake water for cooling, but that H2O now gone…

“His assertion concerning the existence of a terrestrial arms race occurring sub-rosa over the past eighty years focused on reverse engineering technologies of unknown origin is fundamentally correct, as is the indisputable realization that at least some of these technologies of unknown origin derive from non-human intelligence," Karl Nell, a retired Army Colonel who worked with Grusch on the UAP Task Force, told The Debrief.

“ Per protocol, Grusch notified the Department of Defense of the information he intended to disclose to The Debrief, and the Pentagon cleared those intended on-the-record-statements for open publication in April – just days before Grusch left the government.”

“ David Charles Grusch, a 36-year-old decorated former combat officer in Afghanistan, served the National Reconnaissance Office, acting as their representative to Congress’ Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force from 2019-2021. At the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, he also served from late 2021 to July 2022 as co-lead of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) analysis and its representative to the task force, which was recently renamed the All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office.”

Tucker did not mention that Ukrainians are dying, only Russians. I am not a fan of Ukraine, being a child of Holocaust survivors and having lost tens of relatives in Ukraine during WWII, most likely at the hands of Ukrainian police. But I am tired of everyone seeing this conflict in black and white. Yesterday Ukrainians were heroes, and everyone was waiving blue/yellow flags. Today they are all of a sudden corrupt and wear nazi insignia. Oh, and surprise - they blew up Nord Stream. Things are complex. History is complicated. One thing is clear: it is Putin who is now bombing innocent people, which btw includes Jewish people residing in Ukraine. I saw pics of destroyed Mariupol synagogue and Jewish cemetery. Maybe some of the Ukrainians are still antisemitic. Many are probably corrupt. But we clearly see who is behaving like a nazi and who is the aggressor, don't we? It is frustrating that the people cannot raise above the propaganda and look facts in the face. A little study of history also won't hurt. Simplifying the situation and painting one side as villains and another as saints, whatever we feel today, may lead to a dangerous outcome.

Expand full comment

You make good points about how it’s a complicated matter and we should be open to understanding Ukraine’s plight but you then don’t make any arguments about what reasonable concerns Russia has. For example, among other things they probably are concerned about Ukraine deploying more missiles that can hit Moscow in a few minutes, a new NATO enemy on their border, a US proxy war (which it has become thanks to neocons), a history of Nazi aggressions against from Ukraine, a penis piano playing comedian Ukraine president (look it up if you haven’t seen it). Russia has a lot of reasonable arguments for war with Ukraine and as a US military veteran, I am sick and tired of people who never served in the military lobbying for more endless wars for us to send our young men to get killed and our tax billions to be wasted on a corrupt Ukraine.

Expand full comment

Libertarian, I would not take Putin’s concerns at having NATO at their borders at its face value. After the WWII, USSR occupied and kept half of Europe under its boot using the same pretext - to protect their borders. If they have a chance, they will return to the same world order with Eastern Europe under their control or possibly more than just Eastern Europe.

I am very much against any wars and value human life more than anything else. Therefore, I do not quite understand when you say “Russia has a lot of reasonable arguments for war with Ukraine”. What reasonable arguments can a country have to cross a border of a sovereign neighbor and to bomb their cities until they are turned into ruins and people are killed or maimed? I have no illusions about Ukraine. But there are nazis, granted small groups of them, in many countries, many countries have antisemitism, and so many countries around the world are corrupt, possibly including ours. Should we start bombing them indiscriminately?

How much the US should get involved in this conflict is a difficult question. All I can say is that as a native Russian speaker, I am able to watch and read Russian news and propaganda, and what I see and hear is terrifying in their expansionist ambitions and their hatred not just for Ukraine but for the rest of the world. We should be careful and not underestimate these intentions. We should not ignore them but by no means should we provoke them.

I am disgusted by the unbalanced impulsive politics of the WH regarding our involvement, especially secrecy and lies they subject the American people to.

There is really no simple answer. We do need experienced and smart politicians and diplomats at the helm in these dangerous times. Alas, we have none.

I think Tucker is WRONG when he says we should assume Ukraine blew up Nordstream pipeline, like they very likely did for the dam.

Seymour Hersh makes a strong case for why the USA likely did it in Feb ‘22 (and The NY Times would not print this):

https://seymourhersh.substack.com/p/how-america-took-out-the-nord-stream

And Jordan’s Schachtal Dossier, just posts on his substack today, just how improbable it would be for Ukraine to pull of Nordstream (they would have to travel over 10K mikes by sea undetected to do it, check out the map!):

Ukraine very well have blew up the dam today, w/ impact to Crimea. But Ukraine ALSO blowing up Nordstream. I don’t buy that, at all, and Tucker shouldn’t take MSM word for it that Ukraine did that and parrot it. On that point I think Tucker has it incorrect.

It's true that women don't tend to kill people they don't know. Some of them kill their own kids, and I am not referring to abortions. There is evidence, however, that most humans have serious inhibitions about killing people, including in battle. There is a book by Dave Grossman, "On Killing," that goes deeply into this subject. According to Grossman, the DOD worked very intensely on training strategies that would overcome the inhibition against killing, and they mastered it during the Vietnam War. I think he said they used game-like electronic simulations, but I don't remember that part very well.

I dropped out of high school in Chicago when I was 16, joined the Marines when I was 17, turned 18 in boot camp in San Diego, and in 1969 when I was 19, got orders for the ground forces of the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. On the way there we stopped in Okinawa for refueling. They happened to need replacements so they took my whole company off the plane changed our orders and made that our home base. From there we were sent to various other places like the Philippines and Japan for training but not Vietnam. Fate was kind to me. Many who went never came back and many who came back were too injured to ever again have a normal life.

We never had any kind of training to overcome resistance to killing though. They used to tell us we shouldn’t be willing to die for our country. We should make the other guy die for his country. In WW11 German and Japanese soldiers took great delight in killing. Simone Weil went to Spain in the thirties to fight for the left and was appalled by how much they enjoyed the killing. Thank you for your interesting post, Seva, and for your service! I doubt that you got much appreciation for it at the time.

My college BF dropped out of school in October, 1967, was drafted the next month on 1A-O status, and served as a hospital medic at Bien Hoa. He did receive basic weapons training but was not armed during his tour of duty.

I wish I still had my copy of Grossman's book but I gave it away. I remember that Grossman said that the U.S. has data going back to the Civil War that documents this inhibition around killing enemy combatants. He said that something like 25% of the soldiers failed to fire their weapons even when fired upon during some combat situations. During the Vietnam War, he said, the inhibition was mostly eliminated.

The other source of information I have on this subject comes from a psychologist named John Briere, who is an internationally prominent trauma expert. He is from my and your generation. He said he worked on a project for the DOD in which Special Forces soldiers were put through desensitization training that involved intensive exposure to images of mortal injuries that were taken from actual wartime photos and films. Briere said this process was effective in reducing soldiers' reluctance to take actions that could or did result in similarly gory and deadly outcomes.

As you no doubt know, the question comes up after every mass murder by a disturbed young man or teenager as to whether his involvement in violent video games played a role in a similar kind of desensitization. This is another one of those questions that has become politicized for various reasons, and there never seems to be a clear answer to it. There also has been speculation about the contribution of video game practice to accuracy with real firearms. After the Springfield, Oregon shooting in 1998 by Kip Kinkel, law enforcement drew attention to this kid's high level of accuracy, and it was reported that he had acquired it through practice with video games.

Some months ago, I saw a short video of Putin stating his perspective on the woke crap, and I told some of my friends how impressed I was by Putin's insight into the woke as well as his own sense of stable conservative values. I think it was in the World Spectator, or the UnHerd. If I find it, I'll post it.

I had tried to find Putin’s speech condemning Western Woke ideology from 2021 which had been on RT (Russia Today, canceled after the Ukraine invasion) on Google and couldn’t find much. Yesterday I decided to try the new “Bing: Chat with AI & GPT-4” from the App Store. I put in a search for “Putin speech condemning western woke ideology” and came up a link with the text of the speech. Here’s an excerpt from the bing page. Well worth reading.

The Russian leader reserved particular disdain for the sexualisation of children and the presence of radical gender theory in Western education. “There are some monstrous things when from a very young age, you teach to children that the boy can easily become a girl and you impose on them this selection.” He continued: “You push the parents aside and make the child take these decisions that can destroy their lives. And if we call the spade a spade, this is nigh to crime against humanity, and all of that under the banner of progress…”

“Vladimir Putin addresses the decline of western civilization in anti-woke speech.”

Putin highlighted similarities between woke progressives to the Soviet revolutionaries who took over Russia in a speech translated by the Kremlin. Oct 22, 2021

Putin clearly and intelligently explains why he promotes Christianity in Russia. In 2020 he asked the Financial Times’s Lionel Barber: “Have we forgotten that all of us live in world based on Biblical values? Even atheists and everyone else live in this world. We do not have to think about this every day, attend church and pray, thereby showing that we are devout Christians or Muslims or Jews. However, deep inside, there must be some fundamental human rules and moral values. In this sense, traditional values are more stable and more important for millions of people than this liberal idea, which, in my opinion, is really ceasing to exist.”

“Putin has rejected the cultural and irreligious shifts in Western political practice—as have Xi and Jarosław Kaczyński, the chairman of the ruling Law and Justice Party in Poland, who espouses a highly conservative version of Catholicism. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, meanwhile, has argued that Christian Democracy itself should become illiberal, specifically by protecting Europe from mass Muslim immigration. The European elite, he says, promotes multiculturalism and an era in which nations simply disappear.”

Always be aware here that Elon Musk and Rupert Murdoch are now partners in backing Mr. DeSantis...

Nothing good can come from that as Ken Griffin of Citadel is the primary funding source for DeSantis. Globalists defined.

I support Donald Trump for president. I did want to know if you were right, and found that Griffin donated $5 million to the DeSantis campaign, second to Robert Bigelow who donated twice that.

https://floridapolitics.com/archives/575979-these-seven-donors-each-gave-ron-desantis-re-election-campaign-more-than-1m/

Even so, neither donor can be considered “primary” since there are so many other big-dollar contributors to his effort.

Should Ron DeSantis manage to secure the nomination, I suspect Griffin will be sorely disappointed in the outcome. DeSantis is to the political right of Donald Trump.

I’d suggest that it is possible that neither of them will be the nominee, as Tim Scott may prove to be a formidable candidate.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me if the republican party rigged the primaries against Trump as they hate him for doing what they actually campaigned on and then didn't do for 35 years.

I like DeSantis for what he has done in Florida, but his globalist donors make me more nervous than anything. The other thing about him that makes me nervous is he has absolutely no private sector experience, Trump and Ramaswamy do.

The private sector busily buys our representation in the halls of Congress, daily. One thing that sets DeSantis apart, is his military experience. Within five minutes, Carlson told us that "fair" people will think that Ukraine "probably" blew up the dam. No facts or evidence, of course. Evidence is for suckers.

Take away what's non factual from Tucker's discourse, and what's left boils down to nearly nothing. A reformed leftist might find it "hard hitting" or somehow compelling. An unreformed nonleftist sighs grimly, knowing a non sequitur when he sees one, and also knowing that Carlson's old network, whose former top talent has changed showcases, deserves its ill repute.

Are UFOs real? If so, what can we do about it? The laws of physics (AKA "The Science") tell us that any ETs zipping around in our atmosphere have taken hundreds, if not thousands, of years to arrive here. What are their orders? The people who drafted them are long dead, or something. Maybe they lost an election. However old the universe is, projects that take thousands of years to accomplish aren't likely to be priorities for even super-advanced societies. Like most science-fiction, the point of the whole thing is usually to hold Homo sapiens up as a sorry specimen of life. For people who have a problem with the world as it is, the arrival of space-aliens is the solution to the problem of human imperfections. Doork pulls out a ray gun and -- "Zzzzzz" -- everybody's perfect, if sorta zombie-like. Trouble can arise when these perfectionists get together, because they all have their own ideas about what, exactly, are mankind's major flaws. This is why utopias never work out, although Leftists can try to completely re-engineer people totally. This is why only Leftists create totalitarian regimes -- they need to rebuild people from the ground up,. attending to even the most minor glitches in thought and behavior. Right-wing dictatorships accept humans as they are and are satisfied with controlling behaviors that might threaten their rule. Hence the old aphorism: the Left politicizes everything (totalitarian); the Right wing abolishes politics (authoritarian).

When I was in college (50 years ago) the distinctions between totalitarian and authoritarian regimes was a primary subject of study. Now, such differences are ignored, and every dictator is totalitarian.

This wipes away the fact that Leftist/totalitarian regimes are much more intolerable than Rightist/authoritarian ones. Makes perfect sense, if you're a Leftist.

I saw a video of Vivek Ramaswamy recently at a Townhall meeting where he was asked what he would do on his first day as president. He said he would issue an Executive Order banning race based affirmative action. That’s exactly the opposite of what Biden did on his first day in office which was to issue an Executive Order to replace meritocracy wherever it can be found with Equity aka Equal Outcomes.

We’re in a reality war of the Woke vs the nonWoke. Compare a nonWoke public intellectual like Vivek Ramaswamy to a Woke public intellectual like Ibram X. Did you watch what Saagar had to say about dumbing down medical schools in order to get more black doctors? Have you listened to what Vivek says about how replacing meritocracy with Equity in order to achieve racial equality with blacks will destroy America as a country? I’m retired but worked for many years with mostly immigrants from all over the world in Chicago. Vietnam, Mexico, Assyrians from Iraq, Jews from the Soviet Union, Indian Muslims from Gujarat and many other places. Excellent people with traditional values. I have infinitely more in common with them than with hate whitey Woke white leftists like you. All of these people though are appalled by black behavior and very much feel it’s blacks, not whites, who very much need to change. Never will you read about that in your hate whitey Woke media. No society so devoid of trust and so full of hate can survive as a nation. The obvious reason why America is so rapidly unraveling externally is because it no longer exists as a country internally. Does the world know this? Sure they do. They see it all happening online just as easily as we do. No doubt the disastrous failure of the American experiment has already drastically altered the course of world history. Certainly a very unfortunate development for us all.
