I'm an independent, and I have little faith in the extremeness of the far-left. I am bothered constantly by the fact that people who don't know me, who have no idea who I am, who couldn't recognize me in the street are calling me a racist, a bigot, and the ultimate insult, a white male. I'm sorry I was born caucasian, folks, but it couldn't be helped as far as I know. I support many causes that are near and dear to the leftists - I am not a racist, I support many LGBTQ causes, I think DACA unfairly got the shaft from the right, and others. But because I don't believe in cancel culture and don't approve of the mob mentality on Twitter, I am often denigrated and would probably spat upon. When did it become a crime to disagree with others? Because that's exactly what happened - no one, especially leaders in DC like Shumer and Pelosi - don't even get me started on 'the Squad - remembers the word "compromise" exists for a reason. I haven't voted Democrat since Clinton's second term, and i'm not likely to any time in the future if what is there now is the future of the party.

Solid, clear-sighted analysis. Although Pence as an Indiana Hoosier isn't so much of an Establishment Republican as he is part of the evangelical wing that has always reached across the aisle to working class and minority interests. Still, I think Nicki Haley or Bobby Jindal will do well when the next primary season heats up in 2.5 years - governors tend to do better in general, as they have a record of executive leadership to fall back on.
