I’m enjoying these. The mirror part was interesting. I learned recently that one of the changes in the Middle Ages was a wider availability of good silver-backed glass mirrors, and this made a change in the way people viewed themselves, and what they could become expanded beyond their occupations.
It seems like you are describing what happens when a bunch of people watch hours of tv and suddenly start seeing their own faces on the tv. I always wondered what it would be like if I said I want actors or teachers or doctors or whatever to “look like me” and then they started looking exactly like me.
