The importance of this interview cannot be underestimated.
This should be required viewing for every American. It is indeed a startling wake up call.
Another former left wing addict getting sober turning conservative or libertarian. Following in the shoes of, I suspect, many others. Confabulated thinking dissipates; clarity appears.
I truly liked his realization of what is important when his 12 week old son was facing heart surgery and toward the end of interview expressed his relationship with God as being most important to him. His 21 year recovery has brought him full circle.
What the Elitists and the Leftists have in common can be seen as two sides of one coin: Authoritarianism and Anti-Populism. As for the latter, peasants are a threat to the power of nobles. But there seems to be something in human nature that demands more than self-interest in order to keep others down. The program must be justified by hate: "racists". All of this is sadly predictable, when a society has become divided between nobles and peasants. Democracy is a middle-class form of government. So how did we lose our middle class, other than upward redistribution of wealth?
I think we lost our middle class when the best paying and secure jobs were to be found in the government, academia, et al. These jobs require loyalty to Democrats.
And the "poor". Someone has to fund the budget and the all important big guy cut ($780B last year). The good news is we will all be equally poor and receive our universal basic income.
Unless you live in Lake Wobegon, half the people are below average and the great bulk of people are pretty close to the average. A decent country gives a dignified life to average people.
In addition to what Andrew’s comment below, we began losing our middle class in the 1960s by virtue of racist sexist Affirmative Action legislation that discriminated against white males, Vietnam war that rewarded warmongering deep state and morphed into neocons, explosion in federal and state government employment, welfare and deficit spending. This maximized wealth of the already rich and elite, while at the same time increasing dependence on government welfare for the poor and shrinking middle class. The mechanism of trillions in debt is not sustainable and so more and greater wars (eg Iran) will be started so as to provide a means to kill off millions of mostly young American white men to make room for the illegal immigrants to replace them as the new poverty class. Basically, the elite are swapping out the peasants and deplorables for a more controllable and dependent population.
To a considerable extent, money is power, so that trying to stop concentration of wealth from also being concentration of power is like trying to get water to run uphill. As far as I am aware, history records no example of a nobility that did not regard its exalted status as justified. It is not going to be easy to get out of this.
And now for something (almost) completely different, which may be of interest to you ...
I came up with a decisive refutation of (a version of) the White Supremacy narrative: in the late 1800s the Irish were often described as "White apes". There was also a time when the Italians were described as "worse than the Negro". Obviously none of this is consistent with the idea that Whites are genetically superior to non-Whites. It's just the usual "in-group preference" (or rather "in-group superiority") being displayed by Anglos. Just human nature, nothing particularly sinister. I would guess with fair confidence that Lefties are not aware of these inconvenient facts.
What an adventure! Fortunate you loved to tell about it. Reminds me of a comment I saw recently about famous last words that Southerners sometimes use; “Watch this y’all!”
The truth is that I spend most of my hiking time "lost in thought", which certainly reduces "situational awareness". I got in trouble before I realized I was getting in trouble.
On an almost completely irrelevant note, I have noticed a new oddity in the use of "y'all": it is now used with singular meaning. Almost everyone I interacted with out there addressed me as "y'all", despite there being (lamentably) only one of me ...
I neglected to mention that the "racial" aspect of Anglo Supremacy did add a somewhat sinister aspect. I suppose that to "social Darwinism" we might add "tribal Darwinism".
I also neglected to note that, in the larger world, the "supremacy" in question was (for reasons that are not entirely clear to me) "Germanic" rather than "Anglo". This mandated the genocidal interpretation of the Anglo-Saxon Conquest. What the English got out of this was being lofty Germans rather than lowly Celts (no better than Slavs, horrors), and what the Germans got out of this was the glories of the British Empire and America being ascribable to the genetic superiority of the Germanic race. But, as I have noted before, English is the only Germanic language that shows (in time) across the board grammatical similarities to Welsh. Not a possible world if the Anglo-Saxon Conquest was anything close to genocidal: Celtic peasant must have made up in numbers what they lacked in status. Genocide is just what the Victorians *wished* had happened. It is amazing to me that some people, respectable academics, still insist that this really did happen. But hey, academic specialization demands that proper Anglicists must know nothing about Celtic ...
More than that, I would think. Probably all British Celtic in the female line, and half British Celtic in the male line. I once heard an archeologist say, as we were walking through country south of Berlin, where the Russians must have come through in 1945, that in the first generation the Germans and the Britons are easily distinguishable, but in the next generation "mixed types" occur. What a surprise. But the "mixed types" were among the ruling class.
Don't disagree with anything you say but you missed the importance of the off-shoring of millions of well-paying blue collar jobs. This was a, if not the, major cause of the hollowing out of Middle America. Reversing this is tricky as there are solid economic reasons why it happened. Let's try tariffs and other preferences and changes in tax and regulatory policy (aka the Trump plan).
I am trying to get my head around the concept of a Populist Manifesto. As was the case with traditional populism, it would combine elements currently defined as rightist and leftist. The last person to meld those aspects was William Jennings Bryan. We need to move away from Left vs Right to Populist vs Establishment. In the meantime, we are being crucified on a Cross of Bytes.
And why exactly were those jobs exported? Was it really wages, or was that only part (small?) of it. Seems to me that all the rules put in place around labor and the environment and zoning made it even more profitable to export the jobs. So why is it OK to despoil the environment elsewhere? cripple workers in unsafe environments? Seems like the labor and environmental standards are easy to enforce anywhere. Those products not made "safely" should not be allowed back into our country. Imagine that. Then imagine how labor is a very small part of the cost.
Think of how many tomatoes you could pick in an hour. Than divide that number into $15 or $50 and hour and you see that labor is small part of costs.
Part of the Trump engineered USMCA treaty (successor to NAFTA) did exactly what you suggest re labor standards. Mexican imports produced according to US-like labor standards got tariff advantages. AMLO loved it because he was trying to build an actual working class rather than have jumped up peasants doing final assembly of parts from the EU and China.
As for environmental standards, I agree that the exporting of environmental damage is virtue signaling by Western leftists with electric cars being the prime evidence. Somehow, the world needs to find the happy medium between rampant destruction and the economic sabotage of Western environmentalists. I am not optimistic.
If we can cancel an individual for a word they used 10 years ago, we can cancel companies and products not made with adequate environmental and labor standards. Funny how we can demand iPhones with 6-sigma Quality manufacturing and have supposedly no idea of labor and environmental standards.
Excellent points and proposal. Can’t wait to see your first draft! Try to keep first draft simple and compelling. And maybe channel some of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights. Here are some thoughts;
1 Term limits for all federal political positions and government employment
2 Secure borders
3 Minimal taxes
4 no executive privilege to start wars; must go through Congress
5 no discrimination or preferential treatment on the basis of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation (this means no DEI)
6 no foreign money allowed in political campaigns
7 term limits on federal judges
8 audit the Fed annually and expose the ownership
9 eliminate food stamps for fatherless homes as it it is a disincentive for fathers to be there
10 publicly employed teachers and professors to make no more than the average income in the school’s zip code
Again, I endorse all of your points but I am trying to think of something more fundamental. These are all good public policies (and my degree has the words Public Policy in the title) but won't solve the fundamental problem. Good list of public policies here. https://americancompass.org/the-new-conservative-voter/ Viewed spiritually, perhaps a religious revival is needed, to continue the WJB analogy. Good materialist that I am, I am thinking more in Marxian terms though with opposite ends. No reason we can't run the dialectic in reverse. The problem is the same power imbalance that Marx identified but now the Marxists are in control.
Currently reading a history of Reconstruction. Thesis, with which I agree, is that the slaves liberated themselves but there is a great deal of detail about what the freedmen actually did. While slavery, in principle is bad, a great deal can be learned about the specific aspects that were the most offensive. At the top of the list was having their family screwed with- children, siblings sold down the river and starkly differential power in sexual matters. Next, was education. Freedmen were intense about educational opportunities for their children, even being willing to tax themselves with the hated poll tax to get it done. Next was land and labor. Sounded like every peasant rebellion in history. The women in particular wanted to be mothers and hearth mistresses rather than field workers. They were intense about political equality but more as a means. A lot of it was like reading the news today but no one was trying to make them eat bugs.
At any rate, I am looking for someone brilliant to produce the first draft. Perhaps Russell Brand who in part of the interview got at some of what I am thinking of. N. S Lyons would be another good choice.
Maybe “keep it simple” and “public policy” in title are like oil and water 😂. Ten Commandments are pretty simple and they’ve had a good 2,000+ years run.
They believe in the age of universal basic income that there is no need for a middle class. If you are connected, or entertaining, you can remain rich (so long as you go by the unwritten contract).
For people who are employed, we already have a form of "universal basic income": the earned income tax credit. For the rest (including myself), it's tough [incelibate] luck.
Like the Weaver family. I believed the narrative(not the one about white shit)... Right until the 'blessed' govt blew his wife's head off after killing their 14 yr old boy. Our precious gummint destroyed a family like it always does.
Thanks Danimal. Found and watched the Ruby Rudge show after reading your comment. Was sad and really goes to show These agency’s haven’t changed much. One fiasco Right after another. And then the cover ups and all the rest of the nonsense.
Then. I went on to watch the Front Line on Uvalde.
W as next thing listed on you tube.
THAT WAS CRAZY.
Front Line is usually a good show. They throw doozies in every now and then .
Like Trump being klans member show. lol
It’s an election year
And
this is when all the media really bottom out with hysterical nonsense.
Narratives can be deadly. Beware. Frankly, I hate to be cynical, but history has shown us that narratives are almost the only thing government use to get what they want. "Gulf of Tonkin" narrative led to American and Vietnamese death for many years. Hell, even "The Reichstag Fire" was probably staged by the Nazi's. "Weapons of Mass Destruction" led to two 20 year wars. The JFK files are still sealed. MKUltra. Operation Mockingbird. They continue to use 'race' to divide us when there hasn't been a race issue for decades...
And then they call you a 'conspiracy theorist' to trash you - Alynski rule #5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."
Rhetorical gambits are only potent if their validity is acknowledged. The antidote is to calmly call out rhetorical and straw man arguments as a desperate admission of lack of evidence and logic, with a smile and a shrug. "Ah, no evidence, I see, all you've got is empty attempts to be insulting, which I take as complimentary".
Excellent interview. Extremely insightful. In a strange way I feel “smarter” having listened to it. 🧠 😂
I vividly remember listening to Russell leading a meditation session. He approaches that with the same level of energy. While I found his energy and incessant talking counter productive, the man truly is enlightened. 🧘🏻♂️
Praying for both of these men.

I've come to truly love him. He's a genuine free thinker. (that used to be a good thing! HA)
Tucker is great and Brand is a prophet. He nails it at the end. We must all stand against this elitist authoritarianism or be crushed by it.
Russell Brand of all people demonstrates the extreme wisdom of a common man and provides for us all a sincere and very serious glimpse into our chilling reality.

Incredible; Russell Brand is on fire! If 5% of the world can catch his spirit, drive and emotion, we're onto something powerfully great!
Thanks for posting these. Unlikely heroes but, just the same, heroes, in my mind, they are.
Yes like the Apostles- none were perfect - exactly the vehicles God used to fulfill his plan
Very interesting. Brand is very knowledgeable and well spoken as he explains how FBI, CIA, and UK gov has targeted/attacked him.
I truly liked his realization of what is important when his 12 week old son was facing heart surgery and toward the end of interview expressed his relationship with God as being most important to him. His 21 year recovery has brought him full circle.
Damn, that was a great interview!
Mr. Brand…..Mr. Carlson,
Two honorable, intelligent and reasonable men in one room at the same time….I’m looking up in the sky for Haley’s comet.
Wonderful interview. Much respect for Tucker and Russell.

It used to be possible to be middle class with a good blue collar job.
Still is. Just be good at what you do. It is so rare to find talented craftsman these days.

Wow! You have an excellent understanding of history and language, and ability to articulate it into something a lay person can begin to grasp.
