Excllent choice. A Yale Law School grad from a "deplorable" rust-belt state, happy to stand up for the working- and middle-classes. Not only will Mr. Vance do a good job, I think, but this pick will greatly antagonize the left. He will shred Harris, Witmer or whomever in any kind of debate.
a blue team person waived off my comments recently, scoffing, "I'm not interested in popular culture." That shocked me when she said it, and more so when I thought about it. to me, popular culture is about coming up, and to the extent that the blue team is no longer interested, is the extent of the hole they dug themselves. Have you noticed popular songs now on Fox---including country and western, but not on blue state media? Was just watching C-SPAN/History about Billie Holiday's song "Strange Fruit" and there was a Trump for president commercial. No Biden one. Remember the song 'Happy Days are Here Again'? then, later, 'Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow' even 'Don't Stop Believin.' Biden doesn't have one now. He's from Delaware. Would he know who George Thoroughgood is? The hole the dems dug is lack of interest in the working and middle class, and the hole is just getting deeper and deeper with blue team obliviousness about...how well the stock market is doing.
I think it's the right pick. The most important qualification is someone who can carry the MAGA agenda forward after Trump. I view his lack of experience in Washington as a plus not a negative. I'm glad he didn't go with Rubio or some other establishment candidate.
A solid choice. Vance isn't (yet) deeply embedded into the uniparty (not saying he would be). It's a plus he is mostly independent of the Rep party, but he also sets up the party for a strong '28 showing.
I just hope Ohio will field a like minded replacement for his Senate seat. We can't afford to lose any Senate seats.
Initial reaction. Smart move. Qualified, energetic, well spoken (unlike our current word salad maker), and young. He will definitely appeal to the younger voters. He has lots of energy. Good conservative bones.
I’ve seen her in an interview with him. She’s Indian, attractive, intelligent and obviously a very positive influence in his life. She’ll be an asset for him in public life.
I'll take it! Now, I hope he puts some of the others he has been on talks with in his cabinet and other high level positions. Id love to see Tulsi Gabbard in a defense position, Ramaswamy as Press Secretary, Glenn Younkin, Byron Donalds, maybe Ken Paxton, we'll, there are just so many great choices this year.
Copy that. I used to subscribe to NR while Mr. Buckley was alive and for a bit after his death. Once "The Editors" came out with the blanket rejection of Mr. Trump as the GOP nominee, I was done with them.
Good choice. When you see all his qualifications listed like that, it's pretty compelling. "Hillbilly Elegy" is a great read. (Think "Justified" as non-fiction.)
UPDATE: People are asking here: Why Vance? I can list many reasons. But most are already in Trump's intro. Except for the one that trumps them all: He likes him.
Best choice. Not only for VP but for crown prince of MAGA. Beyond what Trump said he is also smartest Senator and the Deep State hates him with the heat of a thousand suns.
Interestingly, he has been willing to work with Democrats where interests overlap. Mainly, left and right against the establishment which is the long term future of populism.
His wife is an asset too. JD's mentor, Amy Chua (aka Tiger Mother ) said JD was the smartest student she ever had except her.
1) he won’t be some “yes man”. Trump doesn’t need that. We don’t need that.
2) It shows he has the ability to evolve and learn about a person over time, and fairly weigh the positives and negatives of them as facts evolve to come to a balanced view rather than sticking with a rash, harsh, sensationalized judgement like he did years ago. And maybe he was right about his criticisms then! But he can recognize the changes in Trump too.
3) When push comes to shove, it sounds like he will have the cahoonas to stand up to Trump when warranted and provide a balance that Trump may desperately need.
I’m not bothered that he flip flopped his opinion. I’d be more bothered if he refused to see changes and grow, or stubbornly stick to past opinions that may no longer apply.
Yes, JD will need to explain his evolved change of views on Trump. That is a given with this selection and I'm trusting this part has been covered by Trump/Vance Teams, as it's bound to come up.
Actually he made a very good point in one of the many different interviews I watched today. It would be considered flip flopping if he switched his views just in the past few months before election time. But he changed his views 3-4 years ago (or even longer than that?) long before a VP run was even in his world of possibility and no where on his radar. It wasn’t a sudden switcheroo

What's not to like?
And a United States Marine!
Semper fi.
my very left leaning friend is already distraught at this as well as the case against trump getting dismissed this morning. it's working!

Agreed. Not sure I trust dewine to make a good choice.
Yeah if he had picked Rubio or, God forbid, Haley, that would definitely have given me cause for concern.
Oh that’s good to hear. You’re right, we don’t need the establishment anymore. That’s great that Trump went around that this time.
Absolutely
Great choice! Wonderful Trump has a deep inventory of patriotsto draw from.
Super pick.
Initial reaction. Smart move. Qualified, energetic, well spoken (unlike our current word salad maker), and young. He will definitely appeal to the younger voters. He has lots of energy. Good conservative bones.
Not only that, but he has not always agreed with Trump.
That is what a person needs...not some yes man.
Not at all...he is the best person for the job.
Dave's not here, man.
Would you object to that in your beloved Cackler?
CNN contributors are already foaming at the mouth at how horrible Trump’s choice of VP is. I guess it proves it was the right choice.
Yep - I am now totally on board with it.
NPR too.
Good choice. Cue the leftists whining about a white straight man.
Wait until they see his wife.
I’ve seen her in an interview with him. She’s Indian, attractive, intelligent and obviously a very positive influence in his life. She’ll be an asset for him in public life.

Tulsi would be great for VA. Expertise and commitment both and VA needs fixing. Ramaswamy is going to run for Senate.
VA ran much better under Trump.
I trust Trump knows what he's doing. I'll be voting Trump Vance.
****WAIT ****
How is Biden going to take the news of Trump not being his VP since he’s now the Republican Nominee?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Up until today, National Review was bad-mouthing JD, and that was all I needed to know that he was the man for the job.
Copy that. I used to subscribe to NR while Mr. Buckley was alive and for a bit after his death. Once "The Editors" came out with the blanket rejection of Mr. Trump as the GOP nominee, I was done with them.

And he’s good-looking.
Yes! I was hoping for this.
Beautiful! So, so happy with this selection!

J.D is a great pick, Trump did a really good job here !
Hoo-rah.
Devil Dog Vance!

Damn I hope this works out.
Well I’m not so sure that’s a negative.
I would want someone to disagree with me, instead of agreeing with me all the time.
Yes, JD will need to explain his evolved change of views on Trump. That is a given with this selection and I'm trusting this part has been covered by Trump/Vance Teams, as it's bound to come up.
No, I don't think he needs to explain.
We all evolve in our thinking as time goes on.
It's the people who don't change or improve that bother me.
