Nice to see you're still kicking Dr. Savage! I've always maintained that the RINO's/establishment republicans are the biggest problem for us. You know who your Demoncat enemies are only to get shived in the back by Collins, Murkowski, Romney, Cornyn, McCain, McConnell, et al. Primary them all.

I remember when Joni Ernst ran for the senate as a conservative and wrestled pigs because she was going to get rid of pork -- insert eyeroll here.

Since she's been there, she has been glued to John Thune who is glued to Mitch McConnell -- disgusting. I'm from South Dakota and wonder how in the hell that amazing state is represented by the two senators they have -- they do not reflect the people.

They all need a swift kick out the door and to quit wallowing in the cash that they steal in DC, to use another pig analogy. If they reject these nominations, they are rejecting the American people, and we spoke loud and clear -- and we are fully awake. They will be kicked to the curb and the $$$ for hairdos and makeup will decrease significantly, Joni.

I have an idea -- how about congress is only in DC for, say, two months and then go live among the people that you are supposed to represent?

Yeah, and JE got a voice coach, so it seems, as she lost that horse laugh she had... I worked on some campaigns in the DC area and like it is said: a friend in DC is someone that will stab you in the chest. Supposedly, JE is constantly pestering Team Trump and has overplayed her hand. She, like some of the octogenarian class in WDC are hopefully led to pasture... Time for REAL change...

Right now these senators feel that they have some sort of power…but I submit to these fools…be careful lest you’ll be part of the primary process in the future.

Ernst has already set that ball in motion. Hope she likes the Senate for another couple years, because she will not be going back.

Once more these rino’s in the senate can’t read the room. They’re plainly telling maga voters they don’t have to listen, that they know better. They don’t deserve our respect nor their seat. Be loud - promise to primary unless their vote represents the people.

Well said, Dena!

Supposedly, she is tight with all four Iowa Congressmen, so a primary challenge may be difficult. She appears to be spouting the right slogans while working to defeat Trump behind the scenes. I don't trust her.

Perhaps all four congressites also need primary opponents.

Roger that Roger, and Sasha's statements ring true with me. Senators, put your dam ego-mania aside and for once work toward something BIGGER than yourself. If you can't see the groundswell support and the golden opportunity to make history, then you DO deserve to be PRIMARIED. Get hell outta the way.

If these are your Senators (or not), GO NOW , write em , call em:

McConnell, Murkowski, Collins, Ernst, Cramer, JohnCurtis. Pressure PRESSURE PRESSURE THEM NOW.

From Iowa. Ms. Ernst will be hearing from me!

And be happy that you have congressites who may be worth the trouble. I don't think that I'm likely to move Mr Booker.

Heading and subhead are exactly right. I'm not sure what Ernst's objections are, save that 1) she wants the job for herself and 2) there is at least one rather large munitions plant in Iowa that generates substantial revenue from the war in Ukraine. It gets old that these senators, who rode on the coattails of Trump into office, can't quite get over themselves and their highly inflated sense of importance. Their role is to "advise and consent" not "torpedo and destroy."

Here's hoping that both Trump and Hegseth hold the line, or the same will happen to the rest of Trump's proposed nominees. Either way, Ernst should be primaried and get the Liz Cheney trearment in early 2026.

She’s got to go unless she gets in line in a hurry. Freeze her out of committees. Let her finish her term counting paperclips and, while we’re at it, maybe the new improved FBI could take a look at her personal behavior.

This is the time for DJT to crack the whip, and hard. The President has an entire warehouse full of tools to bring his party into line; conservatives didn’t spend the last term in the wilderness just to see a handful of nitwits sell us out to the establishment again.

Joni, if you want to be a loser, knock yourself out, but don’t drag the rest of us into loser hell along with you.

Excellent arguments, Mr. Sowers. The last sentence is superb!

The GOP wants to lose. That is why voters have push Trump forward as the new leader of the GOP and the nation. The GOP had become the Washington General (the team that always lost to the Harlem Globe Trotters) and were happy with their role as the losers to Obama's Harlem Globe Trotters. They were the safe guard FROM democracy so that when the voters got tried of the stupid anti-American policies that the Dems put forth and elected Republicans , the Republican would step right up and do what the Democrats would have done anyways. The GOP needs a purge!

They will never learn. Would rather lose with “dignity” than do what it takes to win. can you say Mit Romney?

Wonderful piece, but at least for me the Fish Called Wanda clip started too late - so anyone else watching click back to the beginning and you will find out that the central tenet of Buddhism was not 'every man for himself.'

That being said, Trump's nominees are serving three purposes. First, he thinks they can do the job and do it well, Second, they are intended to infuriate the DC establishment - when it comes to covering "tech" stuff, Politico uses "disruptor" as a positive - when it comes to DC, they use it as a negative.

Third, the nominees and the announcement of DOGE and on and on are all part of specific and direct attack on the deep state and they are not appreciating that. There obviously have been a few "swing for the fences and see what you can get" nominations and a couple will/have failed, but that's not the real point.

The real point is raining fear from above, creating an atmosphere - https://thomas699.substack.com/p/the-bureaucratic-imperative - that will almost do half the work for him.

Because he was utterly unprepared for what being president meant the first time - oh, I'm president, people have to do what I say...wrong - he has been able to learn from that experience and this is the result - fast, unrelenting, change.

And that's is the key this time.

If Jodi Ernst thinks she can steamroll DJT, she severely overestimates her own clout and likewise underestimates DJT's ( and the MAGA movement's ) resolve. Just tell me the name of any Republican who dithers, or God forbid, votes against his confirmation or the confirmation of any of his nominees and I will financially support their MAGA primary opponent.

What I would like to know is HOW these “Republicans” ALL voted to confirm Biden’s pick, Lloyd Austin but have “concerns” about Pete Hegseth? This will just turn into 2016 all over again unless they FUCKING WISE-UP!!!

Puh-lease…

Austin should be recalled to active duty and court-martialed for forcing the troops to take the covid DeathVax.

I’m ok with Matt Gaetz not being confirmed but agree DJT needs to make sure all the Senators know it’s time to let him have his choices.

RFK JR and Tulsi Gabbard benefit by holding g the line cause if Pete goes down they go after (smear) all the rest.

Joe Biden has a man who cut off his junk because he thinks he is a girl in his cabinet telling us what to for health but the wimp senators don’t want a badass military guy who likes girls for sec def. Go figure. They make me want to puke.

I was against Hegseth after reading about his personal issues. I thought he had vulnerabilities. But, the opposition to his appointment made me realise that he's a threat to the establishment and that means he's the man for the job. Those against him are bought and paid for by the 2 industrial complexes that place people in Congress and these complexes place money over everything else, including America.

RINO’s will not learn until they are voted out.

Do you ever see Democratic Senators do this?

Never. They are always in unison.

Maybe Manchin on spending issues. That’s it.

Confirm all his picks.

The senate is the biggest problem in our government. 6 years is to long to be voted in by popular vote, there is absolutely no way to get rid of them. The people’s house is only 2 years for a reason.

We need to repeal the 17th amendment and put the senators back under state legislatures where they originally were to begin with. Before 1913 very few senators stayed one term. If they did not vote like the legislature told them to they were called back home and fired that simple.

Educate yourself on the 17th amendment and put the senators back where they belong. The experiment had failed miserably.

Educate yourself on the 17th amendment

I would also like to see an amendment to make the presidency one, six-year term. Get in, make your mark, get out. And none of this running for reelection the day after your inauguration...

Educate yourself of state legislatures. They are just as corrupt as Congress and cheaper to buy.

GOP removing the 17th amendment would require 2/3s of senators and NO democrats will vote for a Perma one party country like Hungary.

Expand full comment

Not true there are many ways to repeal an amendment .It just takes the will of the people and putting the senators back under the state legislature is not Hungary.

Any change to the constitution requires BOTH 2/3 of the Senate and the house AND 3/4 of the states to ratify it.

Two ways

2/3s of the states which hasnt been done in over 100 year or 2/3s of the senate.
