Fascinating conversation with two very well read and experienced writers. Their talk flows pleasantly and yet is very insightful also. They cover the Fourth Turning theory and manifestation of it recently also. I really liked it.

Nice chat you had there w/ Paul, Sasha, enjoyed the listen. Hope I’m able to grasp the chaotic nature of the Pendulum (40 year cycles) book when I check it out. You are spot on, IMO, on the ‘2 America’s’ (Obama’s virtual, collective, politically correct) vs. (Trump’s America which champions free speech/thought, individualism, ‘real’ relationships). This election is to determine if Trump can stop Obama’s cold in its tracks or if it’s gonna take longer. Your quip about airport ‘safe spaces’ where you can enter to freely speak your mind was gold. Howe it seems has lost his ability to speak w/ pure honesty post J6, which is sad. I’m not going to bother buying his update. Finally, it is indeed Trump who is our Grey Champion and I’m also damn proud to be Gen X !

Sasha, fantastic interview. You should do a reading/book club thing on the Fourth Turning. I read it a while back after finding your Substack and it is spot on. Of course this is crunch time before the election too. Busy busy. However they fit together, hand in glove. They compliment each other.

This interview and back and for is GOOD STUFF. After watching / listening for 30 minutes here on Sasha's Substack, I thought so highly of Paul Finn that I moved to YouTube to get him a "view vote."

Note: I don't particularly like YouTube, but there one can also see highlighted transcripts. Below, I did my own in the hope that it's helpful to whet one's appetite for this smart, funny and hopeful conversation between these two. Their voices are great for this format as well, but the content is brilliant. Something about it reminded me of what Vivek Ramaswamy often points to: "Pattern Recognition." A skill set I've tried to hone all my life.

At 33:40 to 41:00 (Or So) - The Oscars are like salad...Sasha

1:07:44 - Well, I feel very much like my generation was called to this moment. And I know that’s very Fourth Turning of me, but…because…we’re cool. Like Gen X is cool. Because we’re outsiders. And we are outspoken. And we are contrarian. And, you know, we’re not afraid to say what we think. In general. --Sasha

That’s not true for everybody, but like Elon Musk is Gen X, right. He’s a perfect…typical Gen Xer. But he’s not the only one. You know. And I feel like at a time like this, it’s a necessary component to the weirdness of it. That there are people that are willing to stand in the breach and say things that other people will not…are not. Like buying Twitter was such a huge cultural shift that Elon Musk did, and I think that only a Gen Xer could have done that. Personally. But I could be too absolutist on that. --Sasha

Following that the discussion of “The Grey Champion.” Prophet Archetypes... --Sasha and Paul

“Yeah, it is a great window into…Strauss & Howe got so much right. And yet, because it’s a theory, it has to be continually tested and proven. --Paul

And the Trump phenomenon is, I think…the Grey Champion is a concept that’s helping people appreciate who Trump is and some other people like him are. They are who they are for a reason. And we’re at this kind of crossroads as a country for a reason. --Sasha

1:14:37 - Following that, a discussion of “The war of ideology that is between Obama’s America and Trump’s America…Sasha defines this. --Sasha and Paul

1:17:04 “…about the expert class…but they're corrupt. Their ideas are corrupt because they have only one conclusion. So basically what they’ve done is they’ve just rebuilt for themselves what the Boomers got away from. The traditional religion. They’ve just built a new religion basically to fill themselves up and to make sense of the world, and I think personally and I hope it’s true that if history is any indication what we’re having coming next is a Counterculture Revolution which I’m very much looking for you, young man, are young enough and smart enough to be in that. And that is so exciting for you… - Sasha

The Counterculture Revolution will be that. And it will be the Gulag on the outside of Utopia that gets bigger and bigger and creates this thriving new world of culture that is going to be fascinating to live through. And you’re really lucky that you’re about to live through it. I have very high hopes for you. You’re gonna write great books or whatever you want to do…movies, documentaries. --Sasha

On my more hopeful days, I have aspirations for exactly what you just said and that people who genuinely are committed to the truth, whatever it is, have the ability to express it and have the ability to move among like-minded people and live the lives they want, knowing that they are still accountable and responsible for their fate, but they don’t have to be a part of the Matrix… --Paul

…but in about five years, when all the smoke clears and the dust settles from our GREAT WAR then it’s going to be wide open and you’re going to be able to write that stuff and so that’s what gives me hope for the future. --Sasha

May we be here to see it. --Paul (deadpan)

Oh noooo. --Sasha (nervous laugh)

Double cross of the fingers. --Paul (nervous hope)

I also want to say that I hate hosts who keep interrupting their guests and Paul Finn was exemplary in letting you go on until you finished a thought.

Your voice has a serenity and peacefulness (is that redundant?) that makes it very easy to listen to you but you also relate stories and opinions in an interesting way. Your posts are great but I admit that I really love the podcasts. I guess that it's lots of extra work to do them so however often you do them is fine with me.

Sasha. Thanks for doing this and posting it, and for your support of Paul's work. I hope you'll communicate to him that if he brings his work to Substack, I, for one, will support him here.

Awards Daily. AwardsDaily.com It’s Sasha site that reviews movies and makes predictions on various film awards (eg Best Film, Best Actress, etc). It’s cool site but the guy who monitors comments is super woke and bans those commenters who aren’t (eg me 😂)

Don’t you even wonder how 20,000 Haitians ended up in a community of 68,000 in Ohio? Wonder how you would react if your community had to absorb a 30% increase in population, all immigrants from a completely different culture. Oh wait, we already know. How fast was that small group of Venezuelans evicted from Martha’s Vineyard? Less than 48 hrs, as I recall. Hypocrites.

Jude, I was in Haiti for a bit when I was in the US military. I am from Philly and had been to NYC, Chicago and Camden before Haiti; but Haiti was a completely different and more dangerous place than all the others put together. Extreme poverty and lawlessness. The streets were littered with human feces, child prostitutes and every sort of gang. I wish the people that facilitate this immigration would have the guts to have the people move in with them instead of their much poorer neighbors.

Oh you progressive leftists! So willing to discount eyewitness accounts from those rubes in favor of a government office pronouncement, carefully worded. Nothing can be verified (because we will never check it out), no credible reports (because it’s just those deplorables complaining again).

Dang, never heard of a group of people so pure and stainless. Ten thousand people and none have committed any misdemeanors, even a traffic violation! Hint: gaslighting is more effective if it as at least somewhat plausible.

Bet you $100 you never had a Haitian family living in your house. Nice virtue signaling though 😂
