Back in 2016 my mom asked me to test online censorship by looking up Hillary Clinton on Google versus Bing. Bing was relatively "free" back then. The difference was stark, on Bing they mentioned all of the Hillary dirt, on Google, you'd think she was an American hero.

Duck Duck Go which many conservatives like as an alternative to Google was very up front about censoring news about Ukraine. That was when I dropped them.

I noticed that too. But where do we go now for search?

I am using Brave search with the Brave browser.

Thanks

Brave and duck duck go are the same company

I can't find any evidence of that. If you have such. I would appreciate it if you would share. They seem to be pretty vigorous competitors in the private search market. When the Brave browser was new, they defaulted TO DDG instead of Google but then developed their own.

I consider her a bona fide Psychopath.

LBJ was a Psychopath too. As well as Henry Kissinger.

Expand full comment

Hillary and LBJ are/were alcoholics, exhibiting alcoholism-fueled egomania. They are the most dangerous kind: all horrific despots in history, from Stalin to the Kim's, are/were alcohol or other-drug addicts.

I cannot explain Kissinger.

Trimpey thinks it's about willpower, as Ayn Rand would likely have thought. No. It's a different biochemistry: alcoholics process the drug differently than do non-addicts.

Trimpey does not understand alcoholism.

BTW, I love Ayn Rand. But she was an amphetamine addict. Just look at her personal life, and her pupil size on a Reason Magazine cover years ago.

No, they are merely sociopaths.

The term "sociopaths" is not really correct. There are Psychopaths at the very pinnacle of the Cluster-B disorders, then down the line you have Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline and Histrionic.

No sociopathy. That was a fabricated term.

I'm no expert, although I've taken a few psychology courses in college.

I looked up both psychopath and sociopath. It seems that they both apply to Hilary. But psychopath might indeed be the more accurate term.

Can we agree that she is at least one of those, if not both?

I consider Hillary a Psychopath, so no argument there.

NONE of the search engines can be relied on. Some are worse than others.

Remember the images of Kamala Harris being greeted by an incredible number of people at a Detroit airport? Claims were made the images were AI generated- fake, not real.

https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2024/kamala-harris-supporters-ai-images-video-detector/

If you want to find out about it and do a search, 90% of the results are about Trump- he's a liar for what he said about the images. Close to 0% are about whether the images are real or not. You can try this yourself.

For clarity, I'm commenting here on how the search results refocus the inquiry, not on the truth or falsity of Harris's crowd size that day.

My opinion- as is often the case with the media, there's a little bit of truth in all of that. Yes, Harris had a big crowd at the airport to greet her. At the same time, some of the images were doctored to exaggerate the reality. I have reasons for thinking that, but will save that discussion for another day.

The last time I remember war correspondents was the beginning of the Desert Shield when the CNN dudes were there in a hotel and cowering under desks when the F-117A's were bombing Iraq and the Iraqi's were firing the anti-aircraft rounds up like a fire works show. I've wondered about that. Same for Gaza. I have seen nearly no on site reporting. The death counts are, "As reported by Hamas". Are they accurate? Who knows? And they include the death of Hamas soldiers, which is the POINT of the Israel invasion. Think about it: What do you even think you know about what ground is being taken, and how effectively Israel is taking out Hamas soldiers? I have absolutely no idea. I have seen no reporting.

Thanks for the reminder about the Rogan show. I want to listen to the whole three hours.

I did see the clip where Andreeseen talked about being briefed by the Biden folks about their plan to control the AI space, and the Biden people intending on limiting AI to just a few companies tightly under their control. My guess is that the deep state was already working on this secretly during the first Trump administration, with no intention whatsoever of letting Trump in on what they were doing. We need to drain the swamp.

This is already upon us though and by far the most astonishing event in the history of the human race and we are already very much in an AI war of theirs vs ours. We are on the cusp of a monumental paradigm shift…we’re moving slowly, but inexorably from “the government is a friend and will take care of us” to “the government is not a friend and must be controlled.”

I suspect everyone who has experienced this enlightenment has come upon their epiphany in different ways…for me it was the Hunter Biden laptop, for others it was Parler, and for many more it was social media outlets banning the President of the United States from using their platforms.

Whatever it was that precipitated the awakening, it was at the same time, profound and permanent…the bell can never be un-rung!

It's because "hate speech hurts people!" That is their excuse for control and cancel!

Notice that there was never such a thing as "hate speech" until recent times. There were crimes, and there was normal life where most people said something now and again that someone else claimed to be offended by. But that was just life.

Now we have a whole inane category supposedly, known as "hate speech". Although -- oddest thing -- it never applies to Pro-Hamas or BLM thugs.

There is also a category of people who never succumbed to the insanities of the Left. Despite living amidst it. Insights from this group are worth their weight in gold. More so than from those who were Left and then eventually converted. Or so they said.

Several of the converters used this change-in-mind to launch careers, as in "Drama! I Used to be a Leftie!" and I have wondered about their overall motivations.

I can recall reading an article years ago by a former women's magazine writer whose job it had been to push feminism and abortion and the sexual revolution. When that career grew stale and stopped selling, she claimed to be a convert away from the leftwing -- her eyes had been opened! -- and so her new writing career was now worked from that angle.

There are several such writers/media types out there. Michael Cohen, Melanie Phillips, Michael Shellenberger, Josh Slocum come to mind, just for starters.

I am not as familiar with her work. I know that she was/is a journalist who resigned from the NYT, and now claims to write "honestly".

Could it be that she saw a market for journalism opening up for the centrist folks, and moved to grab it? Stake a claim? You do need to be cynical at times, in this old world. Which is why I question everything.

"Though most adults with any amount of experience know that it just is not always so." Yes, agreed. Of course not always. But when inconsistencies hit, one has the moral obligation not to go into denial, and to start watching more consciously. Bari Weiss currently looks to me like an opportunist. I'd be more impressed if her constant bleating about of the importance of press freedom was coupled with a website which was far more dedicated to opposed-view conversations, no matter how difficult.

Another former long-time leftie was Melanie Phillips, who came to her senses and wrote the excellent Londonistan book in 2006. However, by the era of COVID Mania, she had mind-snapped again, and fallen down into the WOKE world once more.

Then there is Josh Slocum (he does a podcast) who made a big falderal about regaining a life and perspective beyond hardcore WOKE, which apparently controlled him for years; mutual love affair it was. But now, Josh tends to smear and cancel people just like the virulent left-wingers. So perhaps he has fallen back into the mind-pit.

I watched the 8 minute video clip posted by Elon Musk of a small portion of the Marc Andreessen interview and was horrified - and yet not surprised. George Orwell's 1984 is the playbook for the Establishment. But I don't recall anything so sinister as debanking in George Orwell's 1984 book. I plan to listen to the entire interview and at least sharing the 8 minute clip that Elon Musk posted.

Today, as I drove through PA Amish country, I thought about the feds raiding Amos Millers Amish organic farm. This election, the Amish voted and voted for Trump. The Amish have had enough of the government overreach and authoritarianism from the Left. Other raw milk farmers have been raided by the Feds.

George Orwell's "1984" was a fictionalized account of what was already going on in totalitarian eastern Europe of the late 1940s.
