There is a reason why trump wasn’t charged with a coup or anyone else actually. Wrong use of the word. Unless the dude with the horns counts.
No. The people are pointing out that the DEMOCRATS are always talking about OUR DEMOCRACY ™ yet don't believe in the principle of one person, one vote AT ALL. It's about pointing out the feckless hypocrisy of one of the two political parties.
Your comment assumes that Ka Mala made the pick... I'm guessing it was her handlers who did that. Ka Mala is too dumb to even make a dumb choice for VP.
IMO the evidence suggests otherwise. Her handlers have smartly spent the last 2+ weeks keeping her away from hard questions and any unscripted engagements, and they smartly listed all potential nomination rivals as potential VP picks to get them out of the running for the top spot -- that was especially brilliant. So for those same people to turn around and make a pick this stupid just doesn't make sense.
But regardless of who the dunce cap recipient should be, it's a win for Team Trump.
Ashby, my sense is that her handlers were boxed in--they couldn't get their best pick, Shapiro, because of his support for Israel. And none of he other normie white dudes were too impressive, with the possible exception of Mark Kelly.
I still think they missed a good bet by not doubling down on the female angle and picking a woman for VP, specifically Gretchen Whitmer. That pick would have been devastating for our side--she's competent, she would have supercharged the Dem base, and she could have probably guaranteed Michigan for the Dems. But their perceived need to balance the ticket in terms of gender prevented them from making the best choice. Kind of poetic justice, ain't it?
Interesting take. I don't think the country is ready for two females in the top position. Maybe CA and NY is but the rest of the country? I think is a hard no! Living through the last four years, I'm not even convinced a woman should be president anymore. I did at one time but now I question it. Tulsi Gabbard would be the exception for me though.
Thanks for your reply, K. Not to come across as a "feminist man" or anything (the horror!), but I do think the country would be ready for an all-female ticket if it could be presented as The Best Two People for the Job. ... but again, the Dems obsession with identity politics prevented that sort of outside-of-the-box thinking.
Yes Tulsi. She was my number 1 choice for VP (JD was number 2). Problem is, I'm not sure where my rigorous political analysis of Tulsi's abilities ends and my puppy dog crush on her begins.... I could listen to that deep, sexy voice all day.
I sometimes wonder if women should even have the vote….I certainly think the only people allowed to vote should be over thirty, are tax payers and don’t receive any state welfare (apart from pensions). We would never have a socialist government again.
Agree Marion. I would only add that they should also have to take a basic course on the Constitution, which would include info on the truth about socialism and be required to pass a test on it, and jury nullification.
Writing in a protest vote might make you feel good, but this is a crucial election. Don't waste your vote. If you want to feel good have some ice cream or something.
she's not dumb. She is calculating. There are only 7 1/2 million Jews in the US. the only race deemed more important than their numbers by the DNC, are blacks at 40 something million, being more important than hispanics, at 60-something million.
Lastly, yes, Shapiro is better to me too, but I'm dark blue and Waltz was a football coach...
What does him being a football coach have anything to do with anything?
Had she picked Shapiro, she could have easily won PA. Had she picked Mark Kelly, she would have vastly improved her chances of winning AZ. Either of these candidates would have helped her reach out to moderates and indies.
Walz adds NOTHING to her vote total outside of MN, which she was probably going to win anyway. Also, Walz will not win her any moderates unless he keeps his mouth shut and hopes that no one airs his past comments about pretty much every issue (which the Republicans are sure to do), and instead they focus on his haircut. So I don't see how this is a better pick than Shapiro or Kelly.
I think the idea is that Walz adds an "aww shucks" Midwestern "normal-ness" to Kamala's rougher edges in the eyes of low information voters. Remember Hilary's VP pick?
Kamala just comes across as a vapid, wealthy, privileged woman, not “rough”—same with Hillary—they want to counteract their eliteness. They both rode the coattails of philandering men to get into politics, both grew up wealthy. Both pander and compete to use fake accents.
LIVs always vote Dem anyway. We know this because the Dems are the party that is always trying to make it easier for low-propensity voters to go out and vote, while Republicans do the opposite. Both sides know who their voters are. Low-propensity voters and low-info voters are pretty much the same group.
The problem with Walz is he’s not gonna get any LIVs excited enough get off their asses and vote. He’s just “generic old white guy” to them.
I happen to be from a red state originally. They like football. a Lot. Poindexters? not so much. When is the last time, you saw a US pres or VP wearing eyeglasses in public? Being a football coach is...manly.
I liked Shapiro better. but on the bright side, I like Waltz better than the bald astronaut whose wife got shot and gifted him in. and Beshear suqqed on COVID mandates.
Football may be manly, but as soon as all 12 of those people who plan to vote for him because he was a football coach hear his views on transitioning children, at least 9 of them will change their mind.
the issue has been overblown it seems to me. Are his kids having this surgery? It's kind of like abortion. How young are we talking? To the extent that this is a private decision with doctors and counselors involved, for those individuals who really do exist, it seems to be a civil liberty/personal choice issue. The more choice the more democracy. Right?
She regularly ignores her handlers and staff, according to firsthand reports. Maybe donors thought Walz the least controversial pick. Maybe the goal was going for a Captain Kangaroo vanilla offend-nobody completely-unmemorable choice. If Kamala loses she almost certainly wants to preserve another shot in 2028 and anybody memorable might step in her way.
I don't know why they breathe a sigh of relief. He's a good pick for what she tries to achieve which is motive pro-Hamas left and Muslim Arabs in Deerbourne to vote. So while neither is a big voting bloc, any vote counts and she just got votes that planned to sit out this election to teach Biden a lesson [for supporting Israel despite his wavering right before he got dumped]. Context is everything and Republicans have "tampons in boys bathrooms" myopia. It's a good pick. They are not going to lose significant number of liberal Jewish votes despite raging anti-Semitism within the party cause anti-Semitism comes from minorities and liberals are trained to think minorities cannot be bigots. I'm pro Israel as it gets and appalled by the rise in anti-Semitism but I understand why it goes unchecked in Western countries where it's spearheaded by minorities rather than usual suspects. Fear of being labelled racist is stronger than speaking out.
It's hilarious that it came down to those three. Consider what it says about the Democrats' impoverishment of talent. Of course, this delights me because I think the Democrats' policies and sensibilities are appalling, but just as a fan of political bloodsport if never a Dem partisan, I can't help wondering if The Three Stooges were the best they could do? Early on, I thought it would be Beshear, whose vanishing from the ranks of possibilities has to my knowledge remained uncovered by the media. To me, this suggests that the vetting of Beshear turned up "problems."
That’s naive. Voters don’t comprehend issues. Otherwise they would be all fired up over Vance’s reindustrialization policies. Instead they only care about cat ladies. And the democrats keep yakking about being “weird”.
Yes - GOP needs to concentrate on the issues. All of this week's catastrophes are due to bad Democrat policies, and the GOP needs to keep hammering on that.
YES! Naomi suggested pick 3-5 issues (I know there are SOOOO many!) and hammer it all the way till 11/5. Some suggestions: Border/Crime/Economy.
Every Republican needs to get on message and not stray. This is so simple and easy to pin on the Demoncrats, but will Republicans ever learn to be message-disciplined?
I'm guessing no. Trump likes calling names way too much. Even yesterday I saw another substack writer whom i usually really like talk about how Kamala only got to where she is by sleeping her way to the top and again - that is NOT THE POINT HERE and shouldn't be the focus in any way.
Bingo - focus on the issues and how to address them - that's what voters really want, especially the Independents. The USA is in such a mess now, and how will the next POTUS fix these problems and provide a blueprint for the future - these are what matter, not someone's race, gender, hair style, wearing/not wearing glasses - all unimportant.
Kennedy has this right - Kennedy Beacon just posted this today:
"Kennedy appeared to address this in a post on X a few hours before Harris’ announcement of her choice, also taking on the incessant media slanders against his campaign: “Every time you write ‘roadkill,’ I will mention dirty C.I.A. regime-change wars and our $35 trillion debt,” he wrote. “Every time you write ‘barbecued goat,’ I will invoke normalized government censorship, vanishing topsoil, threatened wilderness, the epidemics of addiction and loneliness, the deaths of despair, and the world’s largest chronic disease burden. Every time you write ‘vaccine crank,’ I will remind you of an industry with a well-documented track record of putting profits before people, an industry with unreliable regulatory oversight, an industry which is one of the most powerful entities in the world.”
Kennedy continued, “Every time you write ‘fringe,’ I will remind you of my pledge to heal the divide and center us in our shared humanity. Every time you write ‘brain worm,’ I will mention our blundering foreign policy, which has helped bring our precious earth to the brink of World War III. Your opportunistic fidelity to a monstrous status quo has turned you into the Red Herring Machine. The Defamation Industrial Complex. The Abettor of the Social Lie. We are a beautiful but polarized and ailing nation. The more you smear me, the more I'll keep speaking.”"
Close the border, deport migrant criminals, no biological men in women’s sports, no sex change operations or medications for minors, no wars, a better economy, better trade deals. All that trumps a few comments.
If you don't want Kamala to win, Tim Walz came in only second to Shapiro. She should have gone with Kelly, Bashear, or Cooper. All of them are innocuous without any real baggage.
And I don't care that Walz is a socialist. I care that he let Minneapolis burn and perhaps the largest COVID scam took place on his watch, and he too released COVID patients into nursing homes and then blamed it on "federal guidance."
Everything you list is despicable, but we should also care that he is a socialist. The market may have just possibly hinted at a feee market reaction to socialism, both in the incumbent administration and what is in the cards.
The market, already unstable, is reacting to an impending war in the Middle East and the volatility of American politics. We already have socialized elements in our economy and society, and some of them work okay and some don't.
Mark Kelly has serious baggage. He has high level investments in China that will be questionable. However for me, he has one much worse. He asked a judge to jail his ex-wife because she moved a few miles outside of their kids’ school zone. That would not go well with women or single parents at all.
Shapiro would have damned her with the anti-Israel voters, however much those matter because they're not voting for Trump, though if they stay home . . . *shrug*. Kelly would have been a better choice strategically. I can't see that he is particularly offensive to anyone.
Bashear seemed to best choice - young and probably doesn't have a lot of negatives. I think Cooper's probably going to run for the NC Senate seat in the next election. Kelly has baggage from his messy divorce and now information that he had close business ties to a Chinese company.
YESSSS, this is good news. Walz is just as left as Kamala, and from Minnehaha, a state that wud very likely vote blue anyway. Dems had a chance at Shapiro who is popular in PA and mightve given them a chance to win PA....but....Dems just too anti -Semitic for Shapiro.
I watched a little of his rally in Philly earlier - it was pretty impressive. He's focused, articulate, and really stressed that Kamala shares responsibility for the last 3+ years. He's great with a crowd, and they really responded to him.
"Jewish DougEmhoff has 2 Jewish parents, but he don't count for some reason"
Maybe because he doesn't have a clue about his religion (check his silly explanation about Hanukah) and his daughter Ella raises funds for Gaza and a Hamas-tainted charity PCF
Marx impregnated his housekeeper and got Engels to take the fall for it because Engels' wife was a free love type and Marx's wife was a proper Victorian. Plus Engels had the money.
Funny. Pretty sure Lenin and Stalin had their mistresses too. Hey, we're all sinners, but communists tend to be unrepentant sinners and live in an 'anything goes' kinda world.
I'm not sure about Stalin, but Lenin had a mistress and a couple of wives. If you want to read a great novel about Lenin, read "Lenin in Zurich" by Solzhenitsyn - hilarious to read Lenin scolding Zurich's bourgeois for their comfortable, middle class lives.
He’ll brag about his service in the NG as a command Sargent Major, but as soon as his unit was activated and just before they deployed, he quit the guard and abandoned his men and his responsibilities.
He’s another example of how the leftists talk a good game but when the chips were down he folded like a cheap suit.
All you have to do is look at the record. Paid leave is now have a state entitlement, backed up with an employment mandate and payroll tax that will likely exceed 1% of salary.
But remember, we are the state that elected Jesse Ventura, so there is a record of saying "enough of this ____, a pox on both your houses" ... there is hope.
I just read this comment on WSJ main story about Kamala picking Walz:
"Here we go...Tim likes walks in the rain and snuggles on the couch during those frosty Minnesota nights with his wife and two dogs, a golden retriever and a chocolate Lab. Meanwhile, J.D. Vance can't wait to impose the Handmaids Tale on women in America. "
There are thousands who believe The Handmaid's Tale is coming, WAS coming, under Republican rule. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's why I canceled that rag. I got sick of reading so many comments like this, among many other reasons.
Walz was the worst (or best, depending how you look at it) pick among the advertised front runners. He really doesn't bring anything to the table. Nobody who doesn't live in Minnesota or isn't a political junkie has ever heard of him. If Minnesota is actually in play then Trump will win the election anyway but I don't even think Walz is that popular in his own state. Walz has a well documented history of saying stupid things and he may have negative charisma. If Harris was looking for someone who wouldn't overshadow her, she found her man.
Biden-Harris ticket was the most uncharismatic ticket in recent memory yet it won. and don't bother with "stolen election". Charisma alone doesn't get you over the finishing line. Democrats managed to sell demented Biden to the public so selling Harris and Walz should be easier in theory anyway.
I lived in Wisconsin for the first 29 years of my life, and I've been in Minnesota for the last 36 years. Wisconsin is much more blue-collar than MN, and WI is a true swing state. People in WI regard MN as very liberal; that will be a negative for Harris/Walz when campaigning in WI.
The LT. Governor is just as bad...if not worse. All you need to know about Timmy the tyrant is there is Very Little difference between The DFL (Democrat Farmer Labor Party) and the Democratic Socialists Of America.
Don't matter. It's a safe, normie pick, and anyone who points out Walz' peccadillos will be treated like they just stood up in church and asked who farted.
Understand something Look at a map of the twin Cities. You'll see the 494/694 beltway. Inside it there is No Republican Party/Conservative Movement. The Last GOP mayor of mpls left office n 1972. The City Council opposition party is The Green Pay (1 seat)
If you win the 7 county metro area (MPLS, St Paul, surrounding Bubs) it doesn't matter one bit how he est of the State votes. he Mn. 5th CD (Ilhan Omar) is a D+30.
And there are those in MNGOP who are just fine with that. There are Republicans here who think Mitt Romney is a little radical. (well maybe not but close.)
Republicans everywhere breathe a sigh of relief, secure in the knowledge that Kamala is as dumb as originally advertised.
But not as dumb as her voters.
it's astounding isn't it?
It is, but the older I get the less I am surprised sadly.
💥BOOM!💥
I guess Walz has the least amount of negatives attached to him, and he probably won't try to upstage her.
You’re being facetious? Look at his tenure as governor. He’s done much damage to the state of MN.
Who DID overthrow democracy?
Is that Webster's definition or yours?
Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

There is a reason why trump wasn’t charged with a coup or anyone else actually. Wrong use of the word. Unless the dude with the horns counts.
I'm confused could you please define the word coup for me? Speaking as a former Democrat who voted straight party line from Carter up to Dukakis.
How many people voted Harris or Walz in the Dem primaries?
No. The people are pointing out that the DEMOCRATS are always talking about OUR DEMOCRACY ™ yet don't believe in the principle of one person, one vote AT ALL. It's about pointing out the feckless hypocrisy of one of the two political parties.

I’m ready for an all-Martian ticket, as long as I like their stance on issues.
Condoleeza Rice?
I wrote-in Tulsi for president in 2020 and I'm likely to do that again in 2024.

Ben, watch some video--Kamala may be, as you say, calculating, but she is also dumb. Why do you think they are working so hard to hide her?
She said cloud data is stored in a cloud above our heads. I call her “Kamelia Bedelia.”
she has limited genuine beliefs. and she does not debate very well. her voice annoys some people. her followers annoy some people.
So is Trump both leaders have done stupid things and both parties are over willing to over look those flaws.
But only one of them has taken a bullet and then stood up and said "fight, fight, fight." You're mistaken if you think that does not matter--a lot.
Taking a bullet great still says horrible things and remind you Democrats had candidates actually killed they didnt win the election out of sympathy
true.

Yes - GOP needs to concentrate on the issues. All of this week's catastrophes are due to bad Democrat policies, and the GOP needs to keep hammering on that.
True Steph, but Kacklin' Kommunist Kamala is SUCH a target-rich environment for ridicule.

YES! Naomi suggested pick 3-5 issues (I know there are SOOOO many!) and hammer it all the way till 11/5. Some suggestions: Border/Crime/Economy.

Everything you list is despicable, but we should also care that he is a socialist. The market may have just possibly hinted at a feee market reaction to socialism, both in the incumbent administration and what is in the cards.
you guys really stretch the meaning of the word, tho...
As a person who lived under socialism, I would stay away from anything resembling socialism, even if it is a stretch.
The market, already unstable, is reacting to an impending war in the Middle East and the volatility of American politics. We already have socialized elements in our economy and society, and some of them work okay and some don't.
more voting on the warmongering please! More voting on everything.
Mark Kelly has serious baggage. He has high level investments in China that will be questionable. However for me, he has one much worse. He asked a judge to jail his ex-wife because she moved a few miles outside of their kids’ school zone. That would not go well with women or single parents at all.
Oh, that’s bad.
Kelly or Shapiro were better choices. Shapiro's IDF service might have been a problem but I'd guess Kamala and the Dems would have survived it.
OH GOD! I live in Minnesota. Trust Me He's A Really Bad Guy. "The Only Thing Conservative About Tim Waltz Is His Haircut." Mitch uppity peasant Berg.

I live next door in ND. I concur.
I live in ND and I can't stand him.
THIS choice tells us who's running the Dem party.
Exactly. The smart choice would have been Shapiro -- as a Trump supporter I was very concerned about that. But Dems always gonna Dem.
Obama, Soros, and the Squad are running the Dem Party now. This isn't Truman or JFK's party.
Yes it does, though Waltz seems to pander to the Somalis. Watch him swap out the MN state flag for what looks like a Somali flag before a tv talk. https://share.icloud.com/photos/00532rtvKGPzK0om7pvXvXklw
100% on point. This ticket is eminently beatable if Trump and the GOP can get their shit together.
That’s hard to do though with the nonstop demonizing of Trump/vance by the msm which many people believe.
Walz is supposedly the originator of the "weird" moniker.
I think millions of American men would love to be as "weird" as J. D. Vance. Calling him weird is a sign of desperation.
I watched a little of his rally in Philly earlier - it was pretty impressive. He's focused, articulate, and really stressed that Kamala shares responsibility for the last 3+ years. He's great with a crowd, and they really responded to him.
Waltz signed legislation to put tampons in boys school bathrooms.pretty weird.
Guess Dems dont' care about old white men anymore?
Also, I heard this guy is a nice lefty moonbat? If true, good, although the media will protect him as well.
Of course they will. He reminds me of Tim Kaine.
That was my first thought as well.
Is that Pedo Tim to which you are referring? But yes, the Walz pick is on a par with that fail.
I figured they wouldn't pick Shapiro. Can't have one of those types on center stage at the DNC
At least that's how the Dems think.
Can’t lose the pro Palestine crowd.
U know, Mr. Kamala, Jewish DougEmhoff has 2 Jewish parents, but he don't count for some reason. But then I dont understand Democrat math......
BTW, I just heard that Emhoff once empregnated his daughter's nanny, good grief. These people routinely live in a different world from most of us.....
"Jewish DougEmhoff has 2 Jewish parents, but he don't count for some reason"
Maybe because he doesn't have a clue about his religion (check his silly explanation about Hanukah) and his daughter Ella raises funds for Gaza and a Hamas-tainted charity PCF
ha ha. it can be an ethnicity more than or even absent of the religion.
Stalin had affairs with his MiL and at least one SiL. Early day Hunter Biden
All in on "gender affirming care" for minors? Check.
Let's BLM & Antifa burn cities? Check.
A outright Socialist? Check.
Heck, Walz is the PERFECT running mate for Kamala!
He’ll brag about his service in the NG as a command Sargent Major, but as soon as his unit was activated and just before they deployed, he quit the guard and abandoned his men and his responsibilities.
He’s another example of how the leftists talk a good game but when the chips were down he folded like a cheap suit.
They just lie and lie and lie to cover up their last lie.
See both parties on that respect
They're a Uniparty. Not two.
Pretty much an oligarchy rule and dont pretend its not.
MAGA is the answer.
Walz is perhaps to the left of Sanders. He is a paragon of Progressive "virtue" - such as they define it.
He's the reason I was on my way out of the state, until I decided to stay and do something about it.
To the left of Sanders? I thought there was an abyss to the left of Sanders.
I will agree that to the left of Sanders is an abyss.
ha. they ALL can't be to the left of Sanders...
Atwood got the idea for the costumes during a visit to Afghanistan so it may be coming but not from the direction the Left thinks.
So, like, Tim Walz has a “Three Dog Night” during Minnesota winters? Cool!
Tim Walz , feel the excitement!
Yea because popularity polls don't count which have him at 54% approval?
Wow 54%! I plugged that number into the Minnesota to National popularity conversion calculator and it came out to 31.87%
Tim Walz fever. Catch it!
Schitpositing because you cant handle facts I love it.
The Hamas Wing wouldn’t let her pick the other white dude.
Don't kid yourself. It's a smart pick, one that will appeal to voters in WI, MI and PA.
And Walz could have personally called for a bill for mandatory gender reassignment surgery and the MSM never would consider this an issue.
We'll see.
Power Line https://www.powerlineblog.com/ has been collecting dirt on hm for years going back to when he was in The House. The Word Will get out.
Well, Walz got re-elected, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
That is how lots of states work.
it's a smart pick cause it guarantees pro-Hamas votes which is why he was picked over Shapiro.
