I would love to see how. Sachs would fare living in a country surrounded by genocidal terrorists who explicitly state they desire the complete annihilation of your people—and have the will and the weapons to do this—while holding your citizens hostage in deplorable conditions in underground tunnels. Bizarre how he can’t stop pissing on the only democracy in that region. Is his preference to live by the dictates of shariah law?

Israel has committed genocide in Gaza and is extending it now to other countries. Four of my brothers and I served active duty in the US military and we don’t want these neocon endless wars that the Zionists have us American Christians fight and pay for. Remember Matthew 27:25. Israel has committed genocide in 2024 and that will never be forgotten.

The fact that Netanyahu is still in power, while doing everything in his power to destroy the courts that have issued arrest warrants for him, by committing genocide on the civilian population of Gaza, means that you have a dictatorship; not anything close to a democracy.

Israel is severely divided internally between the Orthodox Jews and the secular Jews and this is causing the secular ones to abandon Israel plus Israel has lost its status as a safe place for Jews. Not so safe anymore. Secular Jews are also appalled by what Israel has done to the Palestinians which has caused much of the world to consider Israel a pariah state. Israel’s reputation globally is in ruins.

Why don't leaders of other Arab countries recognize Israel's right to exist?

I know, let's ask Anwar Sadat since he did.

Oh wait, we can't. They killed him for doing so.

Expand full comment

Most of these Arab leaders were on board with this Abraham Accords which established Middle East peace at the expense of the Palestinians who were simply ignored. Most of the general populations of these countries didn’t want that but at that time those leaders could get away with ignoring public sentiment. That has changed now due to what has been done to Gaza which is online for all the world to see every day.

Expand full comment

UAE and Bahrain hardly constitute "Most of these Arab leaders" and that hardly ignores Palestinians. The Abraham accords were bi-lateral, not multi-lateral, and were not at the expense of Palestinians. Will the Trump Admin v2 get around to more accords and will they include Palestine? We'll see.

If the other Arab leaders were on board, why didn't they sign? Let's ask Anwar Sadat.

Why didn't Gazans overthrow Hamas when they were being ignored by Hamas? Why did Hamas take billions in foreign aid and embezzle a large chunk of it while using most of the rest for military expenses? Why don't Hamas leaders give a crap about Gazans? Why don't other Arab leaders welcome Palestinians? Why doesn't any other Arab country offer some of their land for a Palestinian state? Why don't Palestinians demand the Iran quit using them as cannon fodder? When did a Palestinian state ever exist?

What I see is Israel trying to put to an end, at least for a while, attacks on their country and people. They had a chance about 40 years ago when the PLO was nearly destroyed and were surrounded. Israel let them off the hook and so here we are. Netanyahu seems to not want to make the same mistake.

Did you watch the interview? It was explained; Israel assassinate the peace seekers every time. Matthew 27:25.

Expand full comment

Islamist terrorists killed Sadat. Any Iranian who wants to make peace with Israel doesn't last long; the IRG has an iron grip on that country and their power is largely based on anti-Semitism.

I don't believe what he claims about Netanyahu being delusional. I do know that for many centuries Jews have been attacked by many different nations. Nazi Germany was only the most recent egregious example. How anti-Semitism became some ingrained in the world, is beyond my understanding.

If your history is filled with enemies, you probably have a good reason to be highly defensive. If I was surrounded by countries who want to completely eliminate my country and people, I would be highly defensive.

The "war machine" in the US is a big driver of global conflict, but there are other very strong "war machines" doing their part too.

Nazi Germany did to the Jews, Poles and Russians what Israel has now done to the Palestinians. Both acts are evil. Being a victim does not excuse being a murderer.

How do you square the doubling of population in Gaza with the definition of genocide?

Sachs certainly made some eye opening comments. Some on Netanyahu being delusional, assassinating those that want peace in the ME. He said the 2 recent high level assassinations in Iran were actually “peacemakers” & that’s why they were killed. I don’t know how you corroborate that, so one would have to take his word on it, or not. I didn’t get the impression however that he hates Israel, nor is antisemitic but rather he hates the endless war & finds Netanyahu / Israel the main driver of keeping the war going. I can see how deep state war mongers in the US would find ‘defending Israel’ a great excuse for our involvement in the ME & endless war. He’s adamant, & correct, that we absolutely cannot wage war with Iran. I would like to know the extent of US & International intel agencies involvement in catastrophic events such as 9/11 & 10/7. I believe that their desire for war & control would overrule any duty they have to humanity & allow them to justify civilian collateral deaths, as the ends justify the means. I’m not saying he’s right on everything , but what a thought provoking discussion.

Why do you keep invoking the cries of a mob? Why not Luke 23:34 Father forgive them for they know not what they do? Surely the words of Jesus carry far more weight than the rant of a mob against Him.

I don’t dispute the truth of the screams of the mob. But they are superseded by Jesus clearly instructing forgiveness.

Sometimes a situation calls for triage. Hamas and radical Islam are the greatest danger to Christianity and the world. The danger must be faced squarely and dismantled so that they are no longer a threat to civilization.

Radical Islam has deliberately brought tragedy to their own people to further their evil agenda. Providing moral cover for their atrocities is not a virtue. It encourages their dark plans. They openly acknowledge what they want. I will not support their efforts to achieve their goals.

I just think you are wrong and not a Jew-hater. You obviously do your work and bring the receipts but that doesn't insure against error. Nothing is ever simple and that is especially true of the Middle East. Empires were invented there and have come and gone for thousands of years, leaving a multiplicity of overlapping claims.

When President Trump appointed an Assyrian to be his White House lawyer, I had to look it up to see who the heck they are. They are the same ethnic group as the ancients but there is little political continuity. They were one of the first areas to be Christianized and have remained so. Most of them now live outside of their original homeland due to centuries of persecution. The genocide of the Assyrians after WW1 was second only to that inflicted on the Armenians and it continues today with ISIS having taken over as the main perpetrator. I mention this to demonstrate what a mess the whole area is. Eastern Europe is almost as bad.

Facts are inconvenient to them. Like the fact that Palestinian leaders used 70 years worth of humanitarian aid to build military bunkers under schools and hospitals, not to improve life for their people.

They would rather scream “genocide” to anyone who will listen. They would rather claim they are defending innocents from slaughter- by providing moral cover to those who deliberately slaughtered innocents, reveled in it, and proudly announced their intention to do it again.

Don’t take over our universities to launch your latest protest. Don’t pay our politicians to use my money for your cause. Live here. Make your neighborhood great. Start a small business. All war, just or unjust. There is a substantial body of literature on the subject, much of it Catholic. St. Thomas Aquinas codified it centuries ago. One key attribute is a response to an aggressor. Since this has been going on forever, picking a start date is critical to that determination and is cynicallly manipulated by all parties. I tend to think 1936 is the right date. The Arab revolt was a just war against the British but aggression against the Jews who were a 3rd party. The Jews defended themselves and counterattacked. See Orde Wingate.

Interesting claims on the Francisco Gil-White Substack (Anthropologist and former academic at UPENN)) that the 1930s Nazis were in a "cooperative venture" with the Palestinian authorities of the time to jointly scapegoat and wipe out Jews.

Also, I tend to think that Gil-White's additional hypothesis has some credibility -- about the beginning of anti-semitism with the goings-on of Empire builder Sargon of Akkad over 4000 years ago. It's worth a read.

What really got me going, though, revealing his true Humanist ideology, was the smirking comment, "Some of these people actually quote the Bible, and we're going to do this, and is, a little sad and terribly frightening."

Here's a quote for you, Jeffrey, "Be not deceived, God is not mocked." Gal 6:7

Don't get me wrong, I am critical of some of the State of Israel policy, however Jeffrey gives Israel ZERO credit for the compromises made in the late-90s to establish a Palestinian State, which the PLO leader Yasser Arafat rejected over about a 10-acre dispute.
